Where would the committee rank UCF if we win out, beat a 9-1 USF team, a top 20, 10-1 Memphis team? We would be sitting at 12-0 and American Conference Champions.

Would we pass the following?
2-loss non conf champ Ok St
2-loss non conf champ Penn St
3-loss B1G champ Ohio St (lose @ Mich)
3-loss non conf champ USC
3-loss Auburn
2-loss non conf champ Wash
3-loss TCU
2-loss non conf champ Clemson
3-loss non conf champ ND (lose @ Stanford)
2-loss non conf champ Georgia
B1G runner up Wisconsin (12-1)

Top 3:
Bama (13-0) SEC champs
Miami (12-0) ACC champs
Oklahoma (12-1) Big 12 champs

I️ think the committee would have us in the top 10 somewhere. In this scenario, I️ think we would have to reschedule the Georgia Tech game for December 9th. Is this something that is even being considered? It’s not all that far fetched. We absolutely shouldn’t be punished for not playing them if there’s a way to still make that game happen.

No path to the playoff this year. Perhaps more likely if we start out next year ranked top 10-12 or if they expand the playoff to eight teams with the best G5 team allocated a spot or if we get picked up by the B12

Path is simple, play 10 P5 programs every year, and win out. G5 playing G5 wimps winning out isnt as impressive as a 2 loss auburn, even if they lose to alabama they would have a better shot than a G5 making it.

Perhaps, but our chances are much better than yours because you have NOOO chance. Basically Nebraska football right now is pond scum!

I love that g5 vs g5 nonsense. Like the dredges of the P5 are something to crow about. Every P5 plays 3-5 Nebraska caliber teams each year to pad their win totals.

"play P5 teams". Like the one in Nebraska's conference that we dominated? AAC is 4-1 over Big 10 and Pac 12 this year and has 20+ P5 out of conference wins in the past 2+ seasons. Acting like Big 10 West isn't the easiest schedule of any P5 conference. Acting like the AAC is the Sun Belt. Maybe in the "committee's" eyes, but they are scared to put a G5 in the playoff as they are 6-2 in the last 8 NY6/BCS appearances against the mighty P5.

HOw many of those 4-1 are above .500? are any? having single teams play 1 game against a crappy P5 team is nothing especially since the g5 teams always come to play and often the p5 teams dont give 2 shits. TCU got destroyed when it joined the Big 12, as it stood they were not anywhere near able to dominate the conference, they had to recruit p5 players and build depth that G5 teams just cant and dont have. There is no argument because it has already been done. Playing 1 single game against a p5 isnt the same as playing 10 every season, including having to play the average and best in those conferences not just bottom feeders.

Nebraska has been down ever since mike riley came to lincoln 3 whole seasons once this one is over. You kids think because you have one stellar season that football was just invented this year. The ignorance of your fans is astounding. You make Oregon and Boise State fans look stellar by comparison.

-17 for logic fail. Don’t use your opinion as fact.

-21 for using the word stellar too often.

See what I did there?

How many P5 teams schedule poorly OOC just to get bowl eligible? Quit playing yourself most P5 teams are not that far ahead of good AAC teams. Beating each other in conference doesn’t make you the equal of Ohio St. Nebraska is and will be forever miles behind the great football schools of today.

Off the top of my head the last few years
Memphis beat ranked ole miss
Memphis beat ranked UCLA
Temple beat Penn State
Cincinnati beat Miami
Houston beat ranked Louisville twice
Houston beat ranked Florida State
Houston beat later ranked Arizona
Houston beat ranked Oklahoma
East Carolina beat ranked Virginia Tech twice
East Carolina beat NC State
East Carolina beat North Carolina
UCF beat ranked Baylor
UCF beat ranked Louisville
UCF beat Penn State
USF beat South Carolina
Navy beat Notre Dame

I probably missed some and sure there are a fair share of Kansas and Purdue type teams that the AAC beat as well. Most of the matchups are road or bowl games since P5 is getting tired of going on the road out of conference and losing.

As for TCU they were #3 in the country like the second or 3rd year in the Big 12 so maybe you want to find a different example. Like West Virginia or something.

No problem. We'll be expecting that P5 conference invitation so we can compete for it on the field rather than speculate on a message board.

If only we could play this gauntlet every year:

4-6 Indiana
2-8 Illinois
6-4 Iowa
4-6 Nebraska
5-5 Minnesota
4-6 Purdue
7-3 Northwestern

If you're gonna mock the UCF schedule, you better mock Wisconsin's.

Iowa, Minnesota and Northwestern would give us good games. They aren't terrible.

And neither are Memphis, Navy, SMU and USF.

We got the easy side of the AAC, but still played 3 of the best teams from the other side. Wisconsin played that slate of hot garbage and didn't get any of the decent teams from the other side of the Big 10.

There's no real difference in our schedules no matter what the P5 bottom dweller like to say.

Possibly. But Troy beat LSU too. We could destroy those teams but most times it would be close. Just an opinion. Which is what rankings are.
Sorry, but Minnesota is terrible. They beat a Nebraska team in free-fall badly. Their other P5 wins are Oregon State and Illinois who both have 0 P5 wins. Oregon State has only beat an FCS. They lost to Maryland and Purdue. They are no good.
