The LB from Louisiana Tech seems like an upgrade over JJB also. If we can land him alongside Jason Johnson, that’s 2 LBs with chips on the shoulder for next year w/ proven results/accolades. We have nearly hit every time under Gus/Twill out the transfer portal when it comes to getting high level performers from the level below. I’m all for it.
i won't ever consider a linebacker that can't tackle a loss. sophomore year brown would have been a loss, this junior version was hot garbage. bethune was a loss this season though.
The consensus around here is that these players is underwhelming, but FSU is throwing money at them? The same FSU that has a defense ranked top 20 for Yards and Points allowed, and 3rd in Passing Defense.
Also does that mean every transfer that comes to UCF turns down NIL money from all the other schools?
Our entire secondary was TERRIBLE this year. They couldn’t cover, tackle, jump routes, turn their heads around, get turnovers or get to the QB when blitzing. All they were good at were Pass Interference calls. I’d be ok if they all transferred.

NIL is a factor in some of these transfer cases ..not all of them . And yes some recruits have turned down NIL offers , there are G5 Programs in Texas offering more than UCF .
Brown, Thornton, Bullard, and Wilson were all on PFF all conference teams in 2021. And Adams was seen as a rising star. I’m not sure of the others, but Brown went from a 82 PFF season grade in 2021 (great) to a 66 grade in 2022 (above average). The only player to receive PFF all conference honors for 2022 was Thornton. Do you think the talent got worse even though players were the same? Could be that the QB of the defense Bethune transferred after last season but I don’t think that is the whole story.
Jjb was a good role player when bethune was playing beside him. He was not a leader of the defense for a reason though
I can’t see this Baxter thing as being real, but both Bowman and McDonald should get enough carries to squeeze Williams out. My question is what happens with MAR.
I was waiting to see what would happen with our RBs and portal activity. I expect we will see 1 or 2 others make a move before summer of '23.
I sure hope MAR gets his chance as a feature back this year. He's a great back for speed, power, receiving and ball security. He has patiently and supportively waited his turn.
Not that means everything but he did walk with his parents on Senior Day. Maybe he is done at UCF.
