Portal Losses

You think? If his passing doesn't dramatically improve, we're in store for an abysmal 1st season in the Big 12
I’d say so. Def would rather have him competing for the job than not and he’s a team leader who ISNT leaving which is also good.

I would say his decision making needs to improve more than anything. He *can* throw (albeit inconsistently), but made it a lot harder on himself sometimes by choosing the wrong target.

Gus needs to beat Duke. It will keep people from complaining all Summer. Our fanbase hypes him up to be best ever when he wins and worst ever when he loses. He’s obviously in between but perception is reality.
I am thinking so as well…but, IF we lose, it cannot be because we look like complete garbage like has been happening lately.

Agree. The dude hadn't played the QB position in years and, for me at least, he exceeded my expectations. He is more than capable of making good, and even great throws. He just needs more consistency. I am hopeful that he can use this season's tape and an off-season (albeit distracted by baseball) to improve his throwing and reads. Assuming he can remain healthy, I am high on JRP himself. That being said, VERY concerned about the OL. A lot of what broke down, and ultimately showed poorly on JRP, could be attributed to the OL. ESPECIALLY at the LT position. My goodness, we were beaten there every single game, multiple times.

Not buying or selling, but most qb’s see their biggest jump from year one to year two. This was true with MM, MK, and BB. In Jrp’s case he never got the opportunity to jump bc he was moved to wr. So in many ways this was his first year as qb with this offense. He will have alot of film to review this offseason and should make at least some strides next year. How many strides is anyone’s guess

Love the caricature. Instead of competing against 1-2 guys, you are now in the crowd of 1,000 and likely end up in the same or (as stats show) worse situation.

These players are breaking ground on this new portal which I believe will change significantly very soon. After 2-3 years of this, there will be enough data to show that the portal most likely does not pay off.

JP will never be the passer we want, but with the right game plan called for him can still be good enough. The pass game play calling was just too inconsistent. He also needs to be smarter with his body.

First full year at QB in a while I say let him grow and see what happens next year. He could very well become more in tune with this offense and his WR's and become smarter with his body. New team, coach, system, WR's i think a year of experience will only benefit him.

Hear me out.

5 OL

Backfield: TM, TC, JRP

Receivers: 3 WR.

Imagine the type of plays we could run.

McClain didn't transfer and run the scout team for an entire season to play backup or switch positions. McClain and Castallanos will be looking to get the starting job in spring while Plumlee is playing baseball.

Don't see any scenario where all 3 stay, and there is a possibility only 1 stays.

This is the new world we live in, Better to accept it than to lose your mind when our players leave to "greener" pastures. I still haven't seen any head scratchers so far.

I do expect a RB or 2 to transfer. Just not enough room.

I did see we lost Meriweather to UGA.

At this point I am looking for next 3-4 year starting QB and some stud LBs. I wonder if some of our secondary issues are being caused by weak LBing and them having to cover receivers and tackle RBs?

These people on Twitter aren’t doing anyone any favors. They should probably just stfu and let what’s going to happen, happen…if anything even happens. Brandon Adams is a keeper.
Keep? You mean keep him off the field?? Dude look lost against Tulane. I've never seen a CB take such angles.

from a recent Bianci article:

Think about this: More than half of the players who enter the transfer portal will not be offered a scholarship by another school. Last year, according to Sports Illustrated writer Richard Johnson, 3,085 college football players entered the portal and only 866 (28%) found a landing spot. Moreover, not even 1% of college football and basketball players will ever get a sniff of the NFL or the NBA.

Hopefully this stat ^ will be presented to players so if they are thinking about going into the portal they have good information. I know there are so many folks in their ear all season long and getting their egos inflated doesn't help them make a sound decision.

I'd like to know how many of these players went to a lower division from their previous school.

Even if they find a “better” team (P5 labeled), how many besides Tatum actually found success or significant playing time. Look at Cam Goode (was one of my favorite players btw) and Jaylon Robinson? Bianchi’s article was mostly in reference to Jaylon, who faded from any and every semblance of national spotlight, stats and NFL draft boards. Both those guys start, if not Cam Goode would have at least seen a LOT of playing time. Jaylon only needed a decent season, maybe ROK like numbers and he’d have been a sure draft pick with his body of work. When starters leave, it’s short sighted kind of what Deion was stating in his intro address to his new team.

I believe he's an unstable person like Antonio Brown. Yet successful.

High risk, high reward hire.
WTF? deion sanders is NOTHING like antonio brown. the antonio browns and kanye wests have legit mental disorders. deion is a just a bit confident, i mean it's backed up by the results of his playing and coaching career, but that can be a bit much to some.

Didn’t he go crazy after his first win and someone “stole” his phone only to remember later he misplaced it.
no he was robbed. they got the stuff back, but a female assistant saw the theft happening but didn't want to confront person (smart) and was able to let them know who it was and then they tried to claim it was a miscommunication.

Yeah, besides the substance abuse and the suicidal attempts, he's very stable.

:D

I'M THE 1%, I'M THE 1%, I'M THE 1%, I'M THE 1%, I'M THE 1%, I'M THE 1%,

If you don't think the entire group is thinking that........ I've got an absolutely beautiful bridge for you.

They will learn eventually. When they do, everything will course correct. People tend to try to take advantage of new "opportunities" before they really understand them. Then, when the wheels fall off, the next group of people will pass on it.

Well said. dang "early adopters."

JJB and Brown may be headed to Tally. We need to stop Randy Shannon who keeps poaching players developed at UCF . they must be offering nil money we don’t have as well.
