If UCF could schedule 12 conservative sh"tty teams, the final. record would be great.

Brian Blackmon is making a push for Football Scoop Special Teams Coach of the Year. Though Four games, his unit has produced four blocked punts. Also, he replaced preseason Lou Groza and Ray Guy award nominees and both moves have been outstanding so far.

T-Will has transformed UCF to a national Top 25 unit in Total Defense, Scoring Defense, and Pass Defense.

Offensively, John Rhys Plumlee is a great sideshow at quarterback. UCF will never beat teams with ELITE defenses until JRP shares quarterbacking responsibilities with a quarterback who can distribute the football to other playmakers on the field.

Damn Gus's gentleman's agreement to redshirt Mikey Keene. UCF needs to institute a two-quarterback system moving forward while the season can still be salvaged.

P.S. Kobi Hudson still does not have a stat.

Any record of Gus using a 2 QB system? Some coaches can pull that off. 3 if you include Bowser 😀

Each coaching change seems to up the sophistication of our offense.

GOL used to always take it the other direction and dumb it down. Run right, run left, 3rd and 10 incomplete. We used to joke about it the playbooks was very austere

When you got 6’4” 210 going against 5’11 180, a good team will light us up if we don’t improve technique on defending size mismatches

Give Mikey and Timmy a shot to throw some balls

Gus called a great ground and pound/tempo gameplan. GOL must have been in all his glory on the ground and pound.

Bowsers recovered fumble was a NFL highlight play. Same with the strip by the GA receiver on the scoop and score

Defense was lit

We are stacked at RB and Gus was able to leverage that

I swear people just didn't watch the games last year if they think Mikey Keene is any type of answer to our QB woes.

We don’t need much as we saw with UF.

Mikey reliably hits the short throws and connects on some deeper balls too. No wheels though. It’s actually a perfect compliment to JRP.

Purdue had a lot of success with a 2 QB system last year. It can work

If Mikey had thrown for 49 yards some of the talent experts on this board would be crucifying the kid, calling him “trash” and other nonsense. I like JRP and think he made a TD throw Hudson should have caught and had several drops from receivers……just as Mikey had from his receivers last year….JRP may never be a Dillon Gabriel passer but he can grow, ,develop and win games…I really enjoy watching him play…he’s a big play waiting to happen with his feet and I think he’ll continue to improve passing…he‘s a competitor…it’s important to him…just like it is to MK.

at the end of the day I’ll take an ugly win over a loss….but the hypocrisy about our QB play this year by some on this board is palpatable…49 yards passing is 49 yards…no matter how you spin your “chosen” QB’s play….confirmation bias is a real thing…for some experts…had it been MK…the pitchforks would be out

Agreed. Truth is UCF needs both. Ray Charles can see that.

I love how the coaches speak of the team being on a journey of getting better each week. This team is improving with its LBs, OL and every aspect for that matter. The QBing will improve as JRP grows in his ability to make passing plays. If you watch the games closely this season you will see too many dropped passes by our receivers. What do we know about this? In the past the receivers got better when they started more than one season at UCF (just a fact we have to live with).

The fact remains that JRP is our best hope to have a special season so let's give him some time to grow before we start yelling "crucify him". He has great speed, strong arm and a great heart to lead our offense. He will improve like the rest of the team. I really don't see any other chance of winning the conference without JRP and the passing game becoming more consistent. Mikey will lose some games because he's not the athlete that JRP is and Thomas will lose some games because he's a freshman.

Only 3 penalties over past 2 games and field goal kicking is rock solid again :)

This is exactly my thoughts. At least JRP can run instead for some yards instead of just throwing out of bounds. Our OL was way better last year also, Mikey would get eaten up.

Are you F***ing kidding me JRP was trash. Either he was playing for the other team or he overthrew a receiver by 20 yd for an interception all the all while having a wide open receiver right in the middle. He missed multiple easy screen passes including one that would have went for a touchdown. About the only thing he could semi do was hit a bubble screen. And he literally almost cost us with a bad fumble. Thankfully the GT player just didn't fall down on that ball.

This was about as atrocious performance as I have ever seen from a QB.

Granted our dropsy receiving Corp. didn't help.

Would it have only been 49 yards if these passes that were on target were caught and not dropped? It’s like you guys don’t watch the games, like the Auburn guy who is calling for Keene and just admitted to not watching any games last year. You all are ridiculous.

If I may also add...

'Hoping and praying' the other teams makes a mistake is not an effective coaching strategy. But it has been on display a lot these last three weeks.
Actually not one mistake but a lot of them!

Question for me and for some others remains, is JRP growing and improving? Some people keep saying that he is and that he will. Where is the evidence? Has his passing improved, Has his ability to complete his progressions and make quick passing decisions improved? Only against lesser teams it seems.

We will know soon as the season goes on. Still stand on my assessment of our QBs and chance for championship

Probably not but JRP isn’t either. He is an atrocious passer and still has not progressed as far as checking off on his #1 if covered. We won’t win the conference depending on his legs and the occasional completion. A very bad GT showed everyone how to shut us down. So what is the answer to our QB woes?

Because of where I live, I had to listen to games on iHeartRadio or watch highlights and games, including the entire Cincinnati game, on YouTube. I watched only the Louisville game live. Keene didn't play that game. I did watch the Florida game.

I have watched nearly EVERY snap this season. JRP cannot effectively (1) read defenses, (2) go through progressions, or (3) make decisive decisions under duress. Keene can do all these things. (Windmilling the ball out of bounds to avoid a sack is a decisive decision.)

H*ll, NAVY threw for more than 3X the passing yards in its upset win over East Carolina than UCF (i.e., South Navy) did against Georgia Tech (former South Navy).

If Keene isn't playing some by the Cincinnati game, there is zero chance UCF wins.

And Fire Gus...

But seriously Gus needs to step it up

The takeaway is that Gus has no idea how to develop a qb or o like. He can’t call a play to save his life. Fire his ass as oc and tell him to get a real oc. Promote t will to head coach and dump every single offensive staff member.

But Terry is too much of a puss to do that. Terry is ToddShitsbury 2.0 complete with his own Zack lassistter aka sj touhy. Our athletic department is in a very bad place in a critical year.

Who was that other AD we had that was so lazy he basically "quiet quit" before going to work for the Orange Bowl ?

The O-line is playing better, but JRP still does not read the defense and goes through his progressions fast enough. Instead, he tucks it away and runs. People keep dogging Keene based on a TRUE FRESHMAN season?? I believe he would show significant improvement, perhaps not Milton ascension, but better than a running QB who hasn't played QB in two years. He needs to see the field now rather than later,

Sorry 49 yards passing is not a balanced offense and we're not running the triple option here. The offense is not gonna win us games against better competition, plain and simple. I could forgive this in year one of a regime change but now you can't use that excuse.

Every fan base loves the backup quarterback. However, in this case, spot playing Keene helps far more than it hurts.

Gus should give him some possessiond UNLESS he is refusing to play and is insistent on not being part of the team. I just don't see that being the case and I think Keene wants to win as badly as anybody.

I am not calling for the benching of JRP! I am calling only for the insertion of a second option from time to time to spark the offense and get others involved. The more players (i.e., Harvey) involved, the better the team will be. JRP isn't involving all those around him.

There is no 'I' in team, but UCF and Gus better figure out there's a 'me' in it before it's too late.

Frustrating to watch the passing game so inept. The SMU game will be critical. A loss and I could see Gus going to Castellanos with the bye week to prepare for the weak opponent at home (Temple) to see what he can do. Keene isn't going to play unless there is a big injury is my assumption. He's transferring and preserving his redshirt this season.

I'm the type who likes a running QB who is ok at passing at the college level. If half the drops we've seen were caught I think I would be pretty happy with the offense. Looking for WRs to stop letting passes go between or bounce off their hands. I like Keene and would welcome him back as QB1 but I still think JRP is the best option right now.

These are all things I said about Plumlee many times when we took him from the portal, that ultimately we could have done better. But let’s see how we do against SMU before we start calling for someone else.

JRP had 149 yards rushing + passing against GT. Not Good.

4 of 10 Keene starts had less than 149 yards rushing + passing last year, and a couple more that barely passed that mark. 1 of those games was the Florida game where he only accounted for 125 yards. About half of that was on one play.

I agree with everything, except, I do think Keene wants to redshirt if possible.

Keene should be used as a back up Qb should, as you are describing. He hasn't entered one drive the entire season yet.
