Quick takes from the Georgia Tech game

Come playoff time the defenses Lamar Jackson faces have a pulse and he doesn’t play well. He gets sacked against good defenses. You beat a blitz by throwing to spot where blitz came from. Trying to outrun a blitz is hard to do.
Good input, probably not very applicable here since I haven’t seen Plumlee call audibles….so rolling out or throwing quick passes to the side (example RB) is the probable best solution. Need to keep the guy moving.

No one said audible. I said defenses with a pulse stop running QBs. Thats how todays game is. You have to be able to throw.

Correct…..my grand point is we are not giving Plumlee passing formations and plays that best use his skill set. Watching this guy trying to pass from a static pocket vs UL was excruciating……we were telling them to put on a big rush, because a guy who can’t read defenses is just going to be standing there exposed.

Make the DL follow him around.

Ive been shouting this for weeks but chip cant hear me. Roll him out with RPO

Here’s a thought…Maybe the OL can give just a little time to actually read a defense instead of the pocket never forming and just straight collapsing from the get. This may be our worst OL in years.

It’s a straight fire drill every snap. I think Bowsers issues are also attributed to this.

MK was a true freshman last season. all this talk about how he performed last season as if that's an indicator of how he would perform this season is nonsense. the biggest jumps all players make especially QBs is between their first and second years.

We will never know. Hes leaving. TC has played and he hasn’t. Thats the best indicator of what’s happening.

If UCF could schedule 12 conservative sh"tty teams, the final. record would be great.

Brian Blackmon is making a push for Football Scoop Special Teams Coach of the Year. Though Four games, his unit has produced four blocked punts. Also, he replaced preseason Lou Groza and Ray Guy award nominees and both moves have been outstanding so far.

T-Will has transformed UCF to a national Top 25 unit in Total Defense, Scoring Defense, and Pass Defense.

Offensively, John Rhys Plumlee is a great sideshow at quarterback. UCF will never beat teams with ELITE defenses until JRP shares quarterbacking responsibilities with a quarterback who can distribute the football to other playmakers on the field.

Damn Gus's gentleman's agreement to redshirt Mikey Keene. UCF needs to institute a two-quarterback system moving forward while the season can still be salvaged.

P.S. Kobi Hudson still does not have a stat.
Agree. I would use a dual qb thing right now. I mean it could deliver good passing and really throw the defense into confusion. Defense wouldn't know what to do with Mikey and jrp in the game. And think of the creative play calling you could run with both of them in on a few plays, etc. Just my opinion.

Possibly. We may never know. I do think there are a lot of programs that would take Mikey in a NY minute.

AUDIBLE? Audible?

Plumlee cannot read defenses, much less audible.

Gus only has three plays anyway.

First down run up the middle with Bowser for no gain.

Second down snap the ball to Plumlee, let him stand there, then take off running.

Third down and long throw it to Javon Baker.

That's UCF's offense. If a team stops those three plays, UCF will have to score all of its points on defense and special teams.

I guess Gus could give Plumlee a Quarterback Wristband with those three plays on it, so he could audible into one of them on a different down to catch the defense off guard.

I agree that Gus will need to be more creative by using some rollouts and throwing the ball downfield to keep defenses honest. The problem with rollouts is that you now only have half the field/options to throw to. Gotta be able to read defenses ,go through progressions and throw to the openreceiver.

SMUs defense is not very good. We should be able to score points.

Georgia Tech got into the red zone 5 times and came away with 3 points, mostly because their kicking game was a mess. Their kicker is 3 of 12 in his career.

Good teams will put up points if the defense keeps giving them opportunities.
