Remember that time GOL lost to FIU?

The haters want nothing more than to move on from the guy. It's you huggers that won't let him go. Immortalizing him in a statue is the worst thing that we could possibly do.
Statue I assumed is signed off on
and is a done deal. What are you going to do to stop it?? Start 50 more GOL hate posts and get your 5-10 person following to agree with you on here. A free message board. Yeah.., that will work. You need to get a life.

Everything in my power. I care too much about by alma mater to see it disrespected. We need to put the 5 losing seasons and 2 zero-win seasons behind us. A permanent statue around campus jamming all of those terrible seasons down our through is disrespectful to the university. I'm assuming you joined Knight_Light and NASAKNIGHT in the financing of this statue?

No I didn't. I'm first and foremost a UCF football fan and not all about holding onto past coaching legacies, good or bad. I could care less about a statue. I would look at it and regard it as just a part of UCF campus landscape and move on. It really doesn't effect me or my UCF football experience. I'm all about winning and experiencing exciting UCF college football in Orlando and throughout the country for away games.

I'll save and donate my money to more important things in the program, but won't criticize those who spend their money in other ways. Simply because it's not that big of a deal to me if private donors want to fund the building of a statue. It's a done deal, so who really cares. If I don't like it, I'll avoid looking at it

I'm not a fan of the statue, but you won't even think about it after it is over. Do you ever think about the horse and Knight statue? I think a few others like Culpepper, Bortles, etc deserve one if you are going to build statues though.

How about giving one to Wayne Dench or Don Jonas?

We should start a monument park with plaques. Start with one for the Fiesta Bowl team (could be GOL holding up trophy with players flanking him), Jonas, All-Americans, and other key ppl.

I am not for a stand-alone GOL statue. A group plaque or even stand-alone plaque is less offensive.

You would want the families approval which isn't going to happen.

That's not the point. (I doubt the UCF administration would approve it either) Just because someone wants something doesn't mean you do it. How about a statue to Rosen or Nicholson or other donors...lets do a statue to Carl Black Chevy. Maybe a bronze coaxial cable for BH.

Regardless...it is too soon for a GOL memorial....outside of a FIesta Bowl.

Does Boise St have statues to their coaches that won multiple top tier bowls?

Again, Dr. Hitt signed off on the statue. If a bunch of donors who have donated millions to the program want to put up a statue and the President of the University approved it let it go. We have ECU on Saturday which is probably the toughest place to play in the AAC. That is what we should be worried about.

You wouldn't see me giving push back on this. However, GOL is more than 1 game or 1 season. If you immortalize only him you have to look at his full body of work which is average at best. It's really small time to immortalize a coach with a 52.9% winning percentage. Heck, Les Miles had a 77% and they fired him. That is a big time move from a big time program. We want to be on that level where 77% isn't good enough. Don't build statues to the 0-11, 4-8, 4-8, 5-7, 0-12, NCAA sanctions guy.

No, the players need to worry about that. We're fans.

Can I take your picture with it when it goes up?

LSU isn't a fair comparison. They have SEC money to hire and fire. BTW, that was the dumbest firing ever.

I don't disagree that the statue is a bit much or maybe too soon, but i'll live. More excited about Frost than paying attention to GOL.

Off topic but good thing O'leary statue won't be flammable. anyone see this video yet of Auburn's Toomer corner tree going up in smoke?

Did K_L and other Dungeon posters really financed this statue? Why not put the money to better stuff like a fricken canopy over the section that houses the Carl Cabana section? Or an even bigger scoreboard?
