Retire, Gus

UF is so bad that a W is possible but Iowa State, Arizona, Utah , BYU are likely Ls. with the amount of 4 year guys that is not a good result but TMO loves mediocrity
Yikes, Poolside. I've heard of fans looking ahead and counting wins---but prematurely counting losses for a 3-1 team? Hang in there, bud. There are a lot of games still to play.

Gus Malzone is literally a QB killer.

Only casuals blame the QB when a team loses. It wasn’t his best game, taking care of the ball was an issue. But it’s not like we had trouble getting yards, outgained Colorado.

But he could have been perfect yesterday, still wouldn’t have mattered. The defense has been torched by P4 opponents for two straight games. Ted Roof is a boomer that has failed everywhere he’s been. Gus somehow downgraded even more than what we had last year on the defensive side of the ball.

But but but the QB…

U r right to a point but this QB is a fullback at best. Problem is our 2 deep qb room is vacant No arms at all

I am not blaming Jefferson…the blame goes to Malzone.

Gus chose KJ:
1) because he missed out on the 2 other portal QB’s and needed someone
2) because of his size and running power
3) because he doesn’t need a good passer to run his High School offensive scheme
4) because he was less expensive
5) because he knows any Great Passing QB who wants to play in the NFL would never want to be part of his offensive scheme because they’ll never have a highlight reel

I think the president n AD hired Gus as a sense of urgency when hired because of timing ( Heupal left in the middle of recruiting season) it was a good move and recruiting has been good Gus coaching has been suspect n his inability to coach outside of his outdated scheme is worrisome. He can’t coach qbs. He keeps bringing around his ex nfl qb to suggest he can coach a qb but he runs off more good qbs then he keeps. I still have faith in the Pres n AD Our baseball hire was good keeping Dawkins went well so far n overall sports have been upward (( all 3 major teams went post season n the ONLY new Big 12 team to do it ) We will c how this season and post season plays out
I keep seeing good recruiter but if that were true we would have a better team. Maybe I am simplifying it too much 🤔

QB is the most position in Sports. And Gus doesn’t know how to scout or develop one.
If you need a developed QB nowadays, the word is you're paying seven-figures for him.

Serious question: Does Gus have the kind of NIL donor-backing to afford a good one?

It appears he has the money but he recruits to his system There is reason to believe that KJ didn’t come cheap but Gus keeps relying on a system that does not rely on the forward pass. The President and AD appears to have given him everything to succeed but it’s on Gus now There may or not be a decent arm in the qb room ( after the top 2) but if there is he’s invisible to Gus

there are Group of 5/6 Programs that recruit and develop serviceable QBs before potentially losing them in a bidding war. Gus can’t even do that. His offense is antiquated
