What exactly do you think goes into these numbers? Ticket sales, TV contract, merchandise??

I think it's everything that can be counted towards "profit".

UCF students don't know how lucky they are for ticket prices. Prices at the Texas schools are very expense, even for students. If you want to go to Alabama vs Tamu for example, you're looking at minimum $300 for nose bleed seats for the public. They can pack about 106k people in Kyle field. Sidelines cost several thousands. When you factor in consession, they probably pull in $50 mil for a Bama game.

I always wonder when I buy a jacket off Fanatics or wherever, how much of that $ makes it back to UCF??
They probably pay Nike or whoever and then Nike cuts a check to UCF right??

Fanatics designs and runs online stores for all the major professional sports leagues, plus big media brands like FOX Sports and over 150 collegiate and pro sports teams. Fanatics also manages in-venue brick-and-mortar retail shops. And, of course, it runs a massive direct-to-consumer e-commerce site of its own. Fanatics both designs and produces branded merchandise for its partners and resells official merchandise manufactured by third parties. The site stocks the usual T-shirts, jerseys and caps but also logo thongs, sunglasses, footwear and branded Beats headphones.

Fanatics has also acquired a bunch of apparel companies on the way and they are the leader in online sports apparel. I wonder if they are the reason prices are so damn high. I'm paying like $40 something for hats

What is the best way that we as fans can have an effect on that revenue number?
Give directly to a UCF fund? buy tickets and get food at the concessions?
Just wondering what the biggest bang for the buck is for the school or where the largest amount of revenue comes from?

Sounds like you copy/paste plagiarized. :p

As @UCFProf used to say, UCF students pay a ridiculous amount in fees with their tuition every semester and a lot of that goes to Athletics. So no it isn’t a great deal, especially for the students who will never attend a single sporting event

This is what leads to NIL and all other moves that make college football more professional. Not saying that is what you are intentionally doing. However, there is millions of college football fans that look to funnel millions/billions? into their program to make it a professional business as oppose to amateur sports.

No it’s not that deep, I was just wondering what exactly these schools do to get those kinds of numbers. Seeing that most of them are SEC/Big 10 schools I would think that $ they get from the conference probably plays a big factor in this. Something that we the fans have no control over.

I think one of the biggest factors is being old/established.

This isn’t directly related to the topic, but I found the article below on spending trends in athletics vs academics (and the benefits of that spending to be pretty interesting:

It is from 2013, but I’m sure the trend continued upwards since then.

And most students never go to a single game. Ever. Most only go to football if they go to anything. Basketball is a little more exciting than when I was at UCF so you’d think a few more would go to that but by attendance numbers people aren’t overly interested unless we are ranked. I think when I was a student I went to max 10 games. Don’t even think there was a student section.

Basketball was fun in A Sun. Any Kirk’s Jerks around? The Dexter Lyons’ free throws were iconic.

Who cares about the school, just buy the players. The money for the school will come later.

When I graduated we were in TAAC. Mark Jones was best player. Transfer from Minnesota. I don’t think Kirks Jerks had started yet. We just sat in general seating.

This is why I hope UCF never gets t-shirt bandwagoners. We should never want this outside of the UCFamily, demand that artificially raises prices.

Too many programs have proved more revenue doesn't equal more wins

They aren't suing Michigan Football, also Michigan endowment is $17 Billion. UCF endowment is $160 million.

Endowments are also something I hope UCF never adopts. None of the endowments are put to good use. UCF spends all of our money creating more opportunities for students. Standford, Yale etc could have more students than us over-knight if they used their endowments to create opportunities. But they don't. They don't even use their endowments as a rainy day fund. The only use of endowments to grow their endowment.

Keep in mind...Michigan gets very large endowments and captial funding from the big auto manufacturers such as Ford and GM.

Wasn’t even going to post this one, but hey you gotta have goals right??

Thought it would be kind of fun to see how we measure up facility wise with some of our new conference mates.
We need to find us a T. Boone Pickens.
Have been to a game and walked around OKSTs athletic village. Overall very nice. The stadium isn't much bigger than ours, is very clean, and things look refined from the concession stands to the merch shop. Compared to tOSUs stadium which felt like a downtown parking garage.

West Virginia
They have a few more bells and whistles then us but this is probably attainable pretty quick once the Big 12 checks start rolling in.
I also like how all these facilities pretty much connect to the actual stadium. That is what we are going to do with that recovery cove construction project right? Pretty sure I saw a pic of Gus new office overlooking the field.

Baylor
Kind of an old video. Facilities aren’t anything special, wonder if they have updated? Their stadium looks awesome though.
