Well I see that Iowa State is no longer an AAU Research University.

The Iowa Board has an OP on this subject of their in state rival.

I guess with the departure of Texas from the Big 12, Kansas will be the only AAU member school in the Big 12.

Maybe UCF in the future will strive to attain membership in this exclusive club.

Not sure how much schools pay attention to AAU status. I can tell you for sure it's all about being an R1 research university as defined by the Carnegie Classification.
