They claim they are, but the only ranking that has any bearing on anything is the CFP ranking. Their best season in history is so meh that they can't even get ranked.

AP rankings are meaningless. Navy needs to POUND Temple, and WMU needs to either lose or barely win to make sure Navy jumps them and gets the access bowl for the AAC. Go Navy!
Plus Navy has that last game against Army next week, so if they jump Western Michigan the whole bowl selection may need to hold off until Navy plays Army. Conceivably Navy could leapfrog WMU this weekend and then lose the access bowl bid with a loss to Army.
Navy wins out and they will jump W Michigan.

I just knew a UCiFer would have this posted. We are ranked in AP and Coaches, the final CFP ranking will be Sunday, and we could be ranked depending on how games play out. The committee probably doesn't respect the USF defense, and I don't blame them.
Either way, USF is 10-2 and curb stomped the gnats yet again. Maybe next year?

USF hasn't won a bowl game in 6 years and has only been to 1 in the past 5. Total wins over the past 6 seasons? USF 32 UCF 42.... and that was with a winless season. (24 USF to 27 UCF while in the same conference). The seniors leaving UCF this year have had 3 Bowl seasons, 2 conference championships, a BCS Bowl Championship ring, and a Top 10 finish (END OF SEASON). USF's seniors have 2 bowl seasons (probably both winless), 0 conference championships, and 0 everything else (and yes I doubt you finish the season in the Top 25).
10 wins isn't bad. I mean UCF has 4 such seasons in the past 10 years, but getting to their first 10 win season is their biggest accomplishment in program history so I could see why they are getting excited. They even beat a couple AAC teams with winning records. Congrats.

Lots of living in the past (and a mediocre past, at that) going on in this thread. But I guess if my team was being owned academically and athletically by my rival I would probably cling to the past too (well, we have more class than that, so I probably wouldn't actually).

In recent history that is ACTUALLY relevant, you guys haven't beaten a team with a winning record in two calendar years and have lost to USF by a combined 92-34 during that same time frame. Not to mention losses to Furman, FIU, and Tulane and a (third) 0-12 season to boot.

USF has a history of a signature win here and there, unfulfilled promises and expectations, recent coaching disasters, a fanbase that had deserted them for years with presently a minimally loyal and fickle following, bad timed losses, no even mediocre league championships, no rankings, and no signature bowl wins.
Go away and come back when you have more ammunition than 6-2 (2-2 in the last 4 years since the rivalry started.

This Owen guy is funny. Claiming you can't live in the past despite constantly quoting wins over UCF from a decade ago. Claiming #6 Baylor wasn't playing hard in the Fiesta Bowl despite the fact that that Baylor has never won a major bowl in their history (it wasn't Alabama or something). Claiming that championships and major bowl victories are meaningless because USF has neither. Harps on the fact that UCF didn't beat a team with a winning record while ignoring the fact that during the USF rebuild they went 2-10 the first year and 4-8 in year 2, got beat by 30 to an FCS team and went nearly 5 years without beating any team by more than a touchdown.

UCF beat no teams with winning record? Whoop de do. Year 2 of the USF rebuild they beat only 3 FBS teams with a combined 5 total wins by a total of 12 points and almost lost to Western Carolina of the FCS. I'd say we are on the right track.
Except they aren't even 25! Some meaningless fake poll says they are, but anyone can make a list. They are unranked in the CFP, the only poll that means a darn thing.
