Scott Frost is new coach

if he gets the Program winning 10 games a year I don't care if he leaves in 4-5 years, it's a better alternative than looking for a new Coach at 0-12. There will always be interested candidates in UCF to keep the train rolling

Our fans have to accept that unless you are old and with baggage that UCF will always be a stepping stone in the AAC. The only exception is that he really loves living in Orlando and becomes very picky on where he leaves if he does win big here.

If he stays 3 years, I'll be happy but I don't think that he will.

Agree that if he changes UCF into a championship culture then leaves for Nebraska in let's say 4 years, well it's a "win - win" -- UCF wins plus Scott Frost wins. Beats he** out of losing.

By the way, while visiting a number of forums it is apparent that Scott Frost was sought after in a big way -- YOU SCORED A BIG DEAL HIRE !! Dr. Hitt, your new AD and whoever else were involved beat some big boys to the hire.

Is he already in Orlando starting to work or is he still in Oregon preparing to move? I saw in an article that the administration told the coaches to STOP recruiting immediately after the USF game. I would be curious what his schedule looks like the next few weeks...

He is en route to MCO with his fiance' (who is a smoke show fyi). meet and greet tonight and presser tomorrow am.

I also believe a place like Nebraska is no longer a destination. I think Frost will succeed here and stay here, unless a true destination places comes calling.

I like Frost and I think he will make UCF win a lot of games. But I think he will be gone in 4 years (or as soon as his stock is at its perceived highest) much like Fuente. That being said the only kind of coach that will stay with a G5 program for the long haul is one who is in the twilight of his career or is a 7-8 win-a-season coach. If we want a great coach, expect to lose him. And then we will do it again.

Scott Frost was the QB for Nebraska in the game we led a 1/2 time. Kind of interesting side note.

Oregon Offense #6 in country last year.
Oregon's defense sucked. They almost topped us for giving up points this season, which speaks volumes to how ridiculously bad it is. That said, he's just the OC and maybe the guy is smart enough to hire a good guy to do those duties. he was the OC and QB coach...and that position has been pretty much lights out while he was there. The chips are in the air and we'll just have to wait and see how they fall.

This. The P5/G5 break has really disrupted a lot, and quick coaching transitions at G5 schools is one of those increasingly common disruption effects. Some folks on the board seem to be stuck on a coach that will stay around for a decade, but 1) very, very few coaches do that anywhere anymore, and 2) the most successful coaches want the opportunity to coach at a place where the potential to play for a national championship is most realistic. That is structurally and intentionally less likely at a G5 school, thus encouraging quick exits for successful coaches. As long as UCF is a G5 school, its fans should get mighty comfortable with the idea of successful football coaches bolting quickly.

If UCF gets a coach to stick around for 10-15 years, it's for one of two reasons: either the coach is only moderately successful and doesn't have P5 options, OR UCF finds its way into a P5 conference and can pay to keep top quality coaching talent.

Lastly, I'd much rather have a coach leave fast but leave the program in good shape than have a coach that leaves slowly, like a recent coach, but leaves the cupboard bare.

Stop being scared that he will leave in a few years. If he does it means the program is successful and it means he is likely leaving the school in a better position than when it was inherited.

This!! Who cares if he leaves in a few years? He can't leave for a better gig unless we are good or great. Maybe he takes us to P5 and great heights and stays.

Guys, we have Oregon's offensive coordinator!! The same freaking Oregon who in 2013 and 2014 was scoring so many points so quickly I was watching the highlights on TV in amazement. It was ridiculous. They could score 30-35 points in a quarter in the PAC-12.

We were128th in offense in 2015. We couldn't score 35 points in 3 games

Why would we want Babers over this guy? You want an offense that beats Toledo or one that spanks FSU???!!

Welcome to Knight Nation Coach Frost....now let's get busy on bringing in a top notch "D" coordinator and a recruiting coordinator that knows the Florida landscape.

Muschamp was also sought after in a big way.

If you are not Ohio State, Alabama, or Texas, and especially if you are a G5, you are a stepping stone. Deal with it. Doesn't matter who you bring in unless they are 60+ years old and looking to retire in the sunshine state.

Yeah...some haven't paid attention that most P5 jobs are still "stepping stones" to better/higher paying P5 jobs...as scores of HC's have jumped from 1 P5 team to another.

Hopefully Frost can get his system going at UCF...and if successful, yeah, other richer suitors might come calling but UCF would probably be in a situation to promote one of his asst coaches...to keep the system running, just like Oregon, Boise, etc...have done in the past.

Why UCF? "An opportunity to recruit fast players to come play an exciting brand of football." -Frost last night at his meet and greet.

To get the O.C. from Oregon is astonishing. Frost is a proven winner the players will relate to. Can't wait until he finds his D.C. This guy networking looks pretty impressive. He should really do well in recruiting. If we could win 6 games next year I would consider the season a success. Can't wait to see the stadium fill back up with fans. Numbers please!

Regarding no FL ties. Lots are concerned about it. I'm not. Here why.

You can always hire assistants with FL ties. GOL rarely met a kid until he was on campus. Scott can do better than George and Co by being aggressive and going to recruits' schools.

Our local recruiting gurus have never paid off. We have / had a big name assistant coach for Tampa and one for the east coast of FL. It hasn't paid off. We get more recruits from out of the state and better ones too despite all of our local ties.

I believe wins, style, and coaches' personality have more to do with recruiting than anything else that coaches have control over. I'm optimist that Scott will being that trifecta to UCF.

Houston has also done an amazing job of this. Scott has to win here first before anyone with a bigger pocketbook comes calling. Losing a coach from winning is a great problem to have IMHO.
