Spicer out

Who cares? This entire charade of daily press briefings has been totally unnecessary for years and years now.

They should eliminate the position and stop these idiotic briefings outright.

Why?

Because stifling the press is a good thing?

Because limiting access to the WH is a good thing?

Because holding the executive branch accountable to the people is a bad thing?

It has become nothing more than a stage for self righteous reporters. There is nothing serious discussed. It's nothing more than reporters fighting for a sound bite. Clinton's and W's press secretaries both believe the daily press conference should go away, it accomplishes nothing.

FAKE NEWS

"We recommend that President-elect Trump keep the press briefing, but no longer make it a live televised event."

It hasn't been televised live in a month.

Another outrageous failure, and another round of excuses from right-wing morons.

i dont know why anyone would want that job, especially under trump. the media is absolutely out to get you. i think bush/clinton/obama all had a few each. it just seems like youd get burnt out on it pretty fast.

The press briefing is the main way for print and smaller news organizations to get their questions answered. It is not supposed to be a midday soap opera for TV news or a platform for blowhards like Jim Acosta to scream and throw temper tantrums to get TV ratings.

You're right. But the "daily press briefing" is what that activity is called. It was and still is a "press conference" just with a different label.

LOL! Dude, give me a break.

This entire farce has devolved into nothing more than a President sending some lackey yes-man out to avoid every question and offer non-answers. All so that the media complex can send pompous reporters to receive their slice of elevated self worth, and smooze with the other DC bubble media morons.

Absolutely nothing about this debacle ever holds the executive to account. And getting rid of it wouldn't "stifle the media".

I can tell why you like it though. The media gets to send lackeys to make a name for themselves by trying their best to tear down the Trump Admin, after 8 years of the media offering nothing but softball, bullshit questions to the Obama lackey. Just your style.

if Trump fires Mueller do Republicans finally think he's crossed the line and vote to impeach him? The optics would be a disaster to fire 2 people in a row from the Justice Department

He can't fire Mueller, he'd have to fire Sessions and Rosenstein and find someone that would take that job and fire Mueller. Mueller isn't going anywhere. Even if he went down that path it still isn't cause for impeachment, his presidency would essentially be over at that point though, no one would want to work with him.

Given that Trump can't fire him, no.

Mueller should be fired, this is nothing more than liberals trying to dig up dirt on Trump for 2020. This BS has been going on for nearly a year and still nothing.

Federal govt obsolete. The entire thing is on it's deathbed. Will cease to exist in next 20 years. We can stop all of it's distracting shit shows today and people focus on creating the new intersubjective realities that need to be in place to survive in a post-government post-capitalist abundance-information economy.

Which Week does Spicer make his appearance on SNL this fall?

I'm going with week 2. (And Spicer becomes a CNN and MSNBC favorite go to guy shortly thereafter and is suddenly "loved" by those in the media).

The whole world knows he is a Democrat but if he can serve the country in this role by doing a good job, go for it!

Press should LOVE him, he is one of their own (until that create falsehoods which lead to 3 of the firing last month).
He's already "evolved" and has backtracked on his previous comments. He's been trying to delete them - even though nothing really dies on the internet. So no, no longer a Dem/liberal it looks like. Just another apologist and new conservative/Republican.

He openly admitted to his previous feelings of then private citizen trump (wasnt a fan). Mentioned it several times in multiple interviews yesterday and even joked about it during his press conf.

But now he's saying he has evolved from those feelings and has been going through and deleting those previous thoughts. Says allegiance is only to serve Trump now.

Obama "evolved" on his gay marriage stance. Roughly when it was politically advantageous to do so.

But hey- you can only evolve when remaining a Democrat!

I think he evolved after he went to 57 out of the 58 states.
