@ Texas game moved to 2023

FIU
Georgia Tech
@ Maryland
Maine

If that doesn't like like 4-0 to anybody else then I don't know what does.

Did UT get cold feet? :)

I'm thinking Maryland might be a good road trip in 2017 :)

Do we play Navy in 2017? I want to go to an away game for them ASAP.

Most likely UCF wanting to get back to 7 Home Games.

Austin as a college football roadtrip blows away Maryland(or just about anywhere) but I get the move

I'm looking forward to away games at Navy if we go there and Maryland.

However, 2023 for Texas??? Really?

I may not even be alive. That's 7 freaking years away

Yes, we play @ Maryland, @ Navy and @ Temple next season. That's 3 games within 3 hours driving distance for me. I hope we're good next year.

UCF didn't push the Texas game: Texas did. It's probably too late in the game to schedule an FBS opponent, so the best scenario is having a cupcake game and 7 home games. I think it's a smart move.
yeah that's my mistake. I just saw Brandon's tweet that it was Texas that requested it.

And adding an extra cupcake is not the worst thing when Frost is trying to build depth.

When UCF had the "welcome Frost event" Frost mentioned that he would like to make the 2017 nonconference schedule easier. Looks like he got his wish with Texas' help.

As long as we have the fan support returning to host 7 games. That's a big if. Even in the good years, back to back home games hurt our attendance. And next year, we're sure to have a Thursday game in the mix, empty stadium and all.

Thought maybe UT had a chance to play a big, neutral game opening weekend but then I realized no one wants to see UT play.

Yes, although I thought we could have beaten Ga. Tech and Maryland, I was a little concerned about playing GT, MD and TX in succession before beginning conference play. It seemed like a recipe for being banged up before starting conference games. As much as I was looking forward to the Texas challenge, it makes sense to be playing Maine before we begin the conference.

Nope. Quick search....Syracuse, FSU has 2, Miami, TCU, Arizona, NIU, Ball State, AF, UNLV, ULL, ULM, Coastal Carolina, Western Michigan

Bring on the Weezy teams- Weezy Lafayette, and Weezy Monroe.

(rather Miami or even play our "coach for a day" Syracuse)

Maybe we have received an invite to the B12 and we accepted! If this was the case both UT and UCF would have to get this game off their upcoming out of conference schedule :D .

In 10 years at BHNS...believe UCF has only had 1 season with 7 regular season home games.

Frost said at his opening press conf when hired and many times after that (just a few weeks ago at one of his UCF Football Radio show appearances) that he prefers 7 home games (like so many other AAC teams are able to do) with (paraphrase) winnable schedules to generally build confidence, plus help get young guys PT prior to conf play along with generating more $$$ for the program (plus another home date to entertain unofficial and even a few more official visitors to UCF's games/weekends/campus, etc...).

Actually, beside $1.5 million payday, losing badly also lets you play lots of young guys. And those can be meaningful PT if it's against a Michigan coach who leaves his starters in til 5 minutes left, and passes with under 2 minutes to go. [insert emoji for dripping sarcasm]
But seriously, I agree. The problem: weak SOS give poll voters the excuse to trash you. P-5 powerhouses rely on a couple high ranked conference opponents to raise their SOS. Non-Power 5 schools cannot, and so its a no-win choice: either accept sure-loss road OCC games or be dismissed by rankings!

I don't think UCF has any concerns about SOS and playoff contention for next year. New Years day bowl for the AAC winner is about as good as we could hope anyway.

If it's Top 25 you want, Frost is not interested.*

I agree, Frost doesn't seem to want that, and I can understand his thinking, especially for the next 2-3 years. But I do think that OOC games against those who are typically in the #25-50 ranking are generally good for a possibly winnable team challenge, player development, fan interest and bringing in program cash. As such, I believe the Georgia Tech, NC games are good to have on the schedule at this time.

My bad, I forgot to put the <sarcasm></sarcasm> tags.

That stinks, opportunity to show the Big-12 some stuff

We have already done that. Played Texas Twice and of course beat the Big 12 champion Baylor in Fiesta Bowl. By now I think everyone knows that there is no real methodology to potential B12 expansion. So not concerned about a lost opportunity

UCF also played at Kansas State...only to see KSU pull out the win in the closing minute...and then shortly after that game, KSU buys out the return game at UCF.
