The real season starts this week

Dude, Houston is gonna go Michigan on our ass.
Houston won't see the same team as that game.

New QB, Killins will get more touches, the lines will have improved and jelled even more, and better special team play.

That's because you have a very selective memory.

It is indeed loser talk to say that OOC is meaningless. Nobody will care when we beat Tulane or Tulsa, but everybody would've cared had we beaten Michigan or Maryland.

You don't have to agree, but that just means you're wrong.
I want to move on but I just gotta state the obvious

There are a handful of posters here that seem to be eager for that opening to criticize Frost and are getting lotion ready for that GOL statue....the constant need to spin things in his view is comical considering how patient they were with him as a Head Coach. His win percentage was barely over .500 with every resource asked for given to him & he's treated as a God. I just can't wrap my head around the love affair especially with how he left the Program.

They'd rather have him return for that extra year to make up for the 0-12 season @UCFBS***

You could not be more wrong. I think the same people who were GOL supporters are currently the biggest Frost supporters. I think there is a contingency of fans who will not be satisfied unless our coach is doing everything they want, when they want it. These are not the GOL supporters.

Seems to me that you cannot start a thread on this board without some GOL hater bringing up how "GOL would have done it" or how glad I am that he is gone". You find nothing in this thread by any GOL supporter that cuts at Frost.

this thread is a prime example. It started with a simple statement about how the conference games will be how the success of this season is judged and Mr. 80sKnight jumps in with some comment about GOL. GOL supporters have generally moved on and are excited about the future. It is the haters who just cant seem to let go.

Wrong. Unless Frost says its ok, then all sayings as it relates to the last regime shouldnt be uttered on this board again - ok for awhile. Frost is ok with 12 one game seasons for example so that quote will get a pass. Anything that triggers a GOL moment like preseason game sayings will be called out on and not tolerated.*

The ECU game could be a game for the ages. They are as good as Maryland. Really! Don't be fooled by the VaTech score: every stat was almost identical. Tech had no turnovers and ECU had a costly one as well as gave up a crushing 87 yard punt return.

We are not the only ones who will be better by the time that game comes. I expect a 40+ ass whooping from them.

I didn't watch the Vtech game but sounds like ECU Special Teams was a disaster just like UCF's was vs Michigan so looks like both fanbases will be holding our breath during punts & kickoffs

Really? I think this Frost team is going to suprise some people
I think Frost has a good team with enough talent to be a middle of the road team this season. Judging by the sample size so far, Houston is far beyond middle of the road. Any team can win on any given Sunday, but I just don't see how we can pull that off. I will love it if I'm wrong, I just don't see it.

The team has improved each week. Even setting the scores aside, you could see they were a little more comfortable, a little more fluid, a little more confident each week. So the question is, can they keep improving, or is there a ceiling? And if there's a ceiling, do we hit it this week, or the next, or the next? If there is no ceiling, and they can keep improving every week -- not sure if that's possible -- then it could be a surprise season.

The other wild card is -- how bad should last year's team have been? Frost said when he looked at the tape, he didn't see an 0-12 team, but they lost their confidence and love for playing the game. They had 2 soul-crushing losses to bad teams early, and lost Jordan Akins, Justin Holman, Will Stanback, Demetris Anderson and Joey Grant right out of the box (and Jacoby Glenn, who left a year too early, should have been on the 2015 team as well). So maybe the jump is not as big as an outsider might think. Let's face it, Frost's defense is not young and inexperienced. He's starting a lot of O'Leary seniors and juniors who know how to play.

I clearly don't see a win. Hopefully we can keep the score within 2-3 touchdowns and be competitive in the 2nd half for awhile.

I think we are getting better each week and the confidence grows each week. Having a play maker like Killings make highlight runs is also awesome. This team has talent and the question was always if they could pick up the new system. I think they are doing it slowly. I think the defense was not an 0-12 defense last year, but the coaching on that side of the ball was 0-12.

They are not running the amount of plays that they want, but we started to see some of the quick pass routes this last game. This weekend will be a real test.

Respectfully disagree.

We were 0-12 last year. Somehow, we even made 0-12 seem worse than it is in doing so.

We know where we stand right now. We're light years better than last year.

We know we will dominate lesser programs we should dominate.
We know we'll hang with mid and low level P5 teams.
We know we're not ready to compete with highly ranked teams.
We know we should compete in the AAC, but we're not quite ready to win it.

This team is probably going bowling this year. 5-7, 6-6, 7-5. We'll have one of those 3 records.

Yes, I've revised my spring time 8-5 prediction to a 7-5 mark. I predicted a Maryland victory, but of course, we missed out on that.

I'm feeling more optimistic that 6-6 is achievable this year. I thought 5-7 would be a stretch and 4-8 would be more likely but at the rate we're improving 6-6 is no longer a pipe dream.

Power Ranking now predicting a 6.4 - 5.6 season. That's 6 to 7 wins.
