This doesnt help things

He had a gun less than a second before that.

And what else do you think a 13 year old in Latin Kings territory in Chicago was doing out at 2:30 AM with a gun? Couldn’t be in a gang...

institutional racism is why he was out shooting at cars at 3 am?
No.
They shouldn't shoot unarmed people, Copernicus.

The White House has weighed in. Here’s a quote of Jen Psaki assuming a strong position before belatedly saying they’ll wait for an investigation. Oh and they can’t blame this on Trump anymore. Time for them to lead and at least suggest solutions. Unless, of course, they don’t want solutions and rather want anger and division.

“I have not spoken with him this morning. I expect I’ll see him later this morning. I will say, for those of us who did watch that video, it is certainly chilling and a reminder that, across the country, there are far too many communities where there is violence that is impacting — that too often in this country, law enforcement uses unnecessary force, too often resulting in the death of Black and brown Americans.

The President, again, has repeatedly said that he believes we need police reform. That’s what he says he’s calling for Congress to send to his desk.

There’s an independent investigation as you well know, and certainly we’ll see that play itself through.”

She hadn't seen him this morning because he's "under the weather". At least thats what they said when asked why Kamala Heiress greeted the delegation from Japan instead of Joe.

He had a Latin Kings tattoo. It's not a stretch to say that he probably would have killed someone in the future.
Aaaaah, I see. So the fact the kid had his hands up and exposed when the cop fired really didn't matter because he was a worthless thug anyway.*

If you were that cop in the totality of circumstances, tell me honestly what you would've done. And don't change the evidence to suit your bias. The kid had a gun while they were chasing him and you didn't see him put the gun down. What would you do?
I would have simply arrested the kid that HAD HIS HANDS UP 😎

Tell me this: have you watched the uncut video, or just looked at the frame the media keeps showing out of context?

I was pretty pissed about the shooting when I saw that frame until I saw how deceptive it was out of context.

Uh huh. In that neighbhood, in that alley, with a kid who had already fired that weapon at who knows what, with a kid who has ignored every instruction, who had the weapon when he decided to stop and hide his hands, who rather than just putting his empty hands up, decides to turn towards you with his right arm hidden. You're going to just go ahead and hope that he dropped the gun.

A few questions:

1. How much time do you think it takes between when someone makes a decision that they need to shoot and when they actually shoot?

2. Is this kid's life more important than yours? If your answer is no, would your family say the same thing?

Here's a question of my own:
  1. Why do police departments have training exercises involving guns that include split-second decisions involving innocent people in the area, bad guys surrendering, and bad guys shooting? If police can be forgiven for making bad "split second" decisions, why spend so much time on it?

If an active shooter is very likely turning towards you to fire his gun, wouldn’t you want the police to train on that situation?

Yes. The police training also includes the sudden appearance of innocent civilians into the mix to help officers from getting trigger-happy.

Wouldn't you want the police to train for that situation too?

Of course. This 13 year old was anything but innocent. Would the police have been justified or not if they couldn’t see the 13 year old drop the gun and he brought his empty hand up like a pistol and said bang?

Brought his hand up like a pistol? Exactly how do you come to that conclusion when the boy's exposed hands are on either side of him?

JFC, I'm walking you through a parallel scenario and you can't even take a break from the unrighteous indignation for a second.

Fine, since you can't even walk through a simple hypothetical, the kid raised his left hand but still had his right hand hidden and turned with the hand hidden when the officer had to make the decision. Given that this kid had most likely been involved in shooting that weapon earlier, he was out at 2:30 in the morning in gang territory doing what gangsters do, the he ignored lawful commands and ran, that they saw the weapon in his right hand, that he continued to ignore commands when he stopped and intentionally hid his hands, that he turned towards the officer and he could not see the right hand, this is a lawfully justifiable use of deadly force that any reasonable officer in those circumstances would've used. Deal with it.

Yup. It’s shitty that a kid had to die and it’s shitty that the officer has to live with it forever but at the end of the day if the kid doesn’t run he’s alive. The still shot of his hands in the air is effed up too but we know why they pull that. He has a gun, tossed it (which the officer couldn’t see) and turned towards the officer. A reasonable person fires in that situation, it was under a second from the time you could see the gun until he turned. How many times has the suspect turned without dropping the gun? The officer did what he thought he had to do in that moment to protect himself and go home to his family.

The officers is heard barking at the suspect to turn around with his hands up. He does so -- and is shot dead. Me thinks a 'reasonable person' doesn't fire at a 13 year old kid with both hands in the air and exposed.

The problem was the cop already assumed a shootout and shot before realizing the kid was now unarmed and defenseless.

You’re a lost cause.

This is a cop TRAINED on these types of situation. In the end he shot a kid WITH HIS HANDS UP TRYING TO GIVE UP. You could play this game all you want buddy, but if this coward is "scary" he needs a new occupation.

Have you watched the video yet or still just outraged over the single frame?

This cop shall be charged with manslaughter and we will keep it moving. Some of you hate 2 see bad cops go to jail but f**k him and all other sh*tty cops that shoot first and ask questions later. I grew up with 5 guys that are cops and i spent 2 years as a project manager puyting body cameras and in car videos for cops. I have no problem with good ETHICAL COPS. Not these cook-suckers.

You’re a very angry person. Seek help.

And he still hasn’t watched the uncut body cam footage. I’ve asked him twice now if he’s seen it or if he’s just going off the single frame the media keeps showing. No response.
Then you don't need to waste your time any longer. I know that I am extremely tired of facts not mattering--only feelings. Get woke or get out. Rage du jour. It's all very exhausting.

I was told the bodycam footage would change our understanding of the scene. I don't know about you, but when he turned, his empty right hand was clearly visible.

What I find exhausting is people defending bad, trigger-happy, cops.

Running from cops + gun + not following directions + adrenaline = you could get your ass shot

Don't want to get shot? Don't be a dumb ass. #facts

If I'm holding a gun while running away from a cop who's chasing me, I damn well SHOULD EXPECT to get my ass shot.

If that had been what happened, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

That's not true. You'd have been crowing about them shooting the kid as he was running away.

For the billionth time in italics: He has a gun, tossed it (which the officer couldn’t see) and turned towards the officer. A reasonable person fires in that situation.

Make better decisions in life and these things don't happen. Period.
