Not a great week for us, but guess this is side effect of the NIL/portal era. I'm going to assume its over usage in Gus' system, and as it stands we'll only have 2 returning starters on offense next season (assuming nobody else leaves).

Its understandable for someone down on the depth chart but X has been at the top of the depth chart since he stepped on campus.. All of our established player transfers out seem to have the same common theme. The issue needs fixed sooner rather than later.
The sad thing is that more than likely he’s going to wind up another statistic in terms of the grass not being greener on the other side. Where’s Jaylon Robinson nowadays, for example…
I tried to tell y'all over and over and over that Xavier Townsend would transfer because of Ja'Varrius Johnson. It is why Gus didn't announce his transfer until AFTER the transfer portal window closed.
Johnson will start at slot against Florida.

Block is your friend with these 2. Only drawback ya may miss something interesting but thats slim to none.

Xavier Townsend has some skills! I thought he was excellent evading tacklers.
Losing a year of eligibility is a big deal for anyone's career and if a player is planning to transfer out its better to just rip the band aid off now. People may not like it, but coaches have been doing the same for years, leaving before the season is done. Only difference is they don't have a finite amount of years to coach.
HC job is to keep his players engaged and wanting to be on the team. Milton was ready to walk after his freshman season, Scott Frost is the only reason he stayed.
Loyalty is whats built in the minds of alumni/fans. However, for players its about football. Just like Kevin Smith stating if the transfer portal was available to him during his years, he would probably left to prove himself on a bigger stage. That was more important to him than representing a particular school.
Malzone better win at UF or he is done. Simple as that.

Why do coaches get to gather up players, not develop them, then go around and immediately get their replacement? I don't like this NIL/portal crap, but at least I can see it's evening up the score. Coaches give up on players all the time, bury them in depth charts and just expect them to be happy being the punching bags of the next year's new recruits. I hate it, but it's now even, and coaches are going to have to change and develop players.

It kills me to say this but Bozo had some input on this one. Bozo said his brother in law is a UCF alum and booster. Bozo said his brother in law was at a UCF practice during the spring and said Threats struggled mightily. It wound up being true, apparently.
I have watched Threats play. He misses a lot of tackles because he always goes for the kill shot. He isn't fundamentally sound.

Gus is stubborn and ALWAYS plays returning offensive starters over more talented newcomers in early season games. He does it to make the newcomers earn their stripes. It is a high school thing I guess. It is also why his early season depth charts leave much to be desired.
