You and a lot of other people have been either stripping context to misrepresent Trump’s words or adding context as you see fit to create and maintain the narrative that Trump and anyone who doesn’t condemn him are terrible. So, yeah, I’m not going to just go with it, especially with just how convenient this has been at taking all the heat off of the leftist violent occupations in so many cities. It honestly couldn’t have been planned any better to benefit Democrats and their agenda.
Do you really think the President “instructed” anyone? Or is it more likely the radical nut jobs heard what they wanted and were going to do what they did regardless of whether he even spoke or not? I mean, it couldn’t have been planned in advance and also have been a spontaneous reaction to some coded message the President sent that day.
Of course, it doesn’t help that we lived through years of leading Democrats literally (without ambiguity) urging violence and never being held responsible.
The people who committed the acts felt that Trump instructed them. That’s more important that what you or I think.
Sure but whether they believed it or not doesn’t mean he actually instructed it. Surely you can see the issue with your logic there. We have never held people responsible for what crazy people believe.
You think all the MAGAts at the Capitol were just crazy people under no direction from the president? I mean admittedly they obviously have some mental deficiencies, but crazy is a bit harsh.
I think hundreds of thousands of them were Trump supporters who did not hear some hidden message that didn’t exist and went home peacefully. I think a hundred or two went there hell bent on bringing the summer’s mob scenes to the Capitol. I think a thousand or two got caught up in the excitement.
Much like every other of the hundreds of
riots over the summer.
Again, I have to point out that the best Democrat strategists couldn’t have planned this better for the Democrats.
The dichotomy of your side’s arguments against Trump is impossible; that the guy is such a smooth operator that he can steal an election with Russia’s help while leaving no chargeable evidence, that he can set up an internal totalitarian takeover in spite of all the leaks against him, but the somehow be stupid enough on that one day to give Democrats exactly what they want to take all the heat off their embrace of the militant left and give them a lever for years against Republicans. It’s inconceivable.
People saying everyone who supported the Jan 6th protests (before they entered the capitol building) and even considered going, let alone those who were there, but didn't enter, much less weren't armed at all, are 'insurrectionists' and should be charged with 'felonies' ... Are just as bad as those who want to do the same with everyone who supports BLM, including myself, because some burnt down buildings and assaulted (even killed) people during riots.
We need to stop this 'nuke the other side' BS. It was as subset of people, and just because you agree with some of what they said, doesn't mean they agree -- much less committed a crime -- like those who actually did.

If you couldn’t read between the lines well enough to determine that after months of propaganda from Trump this was his doing and exactly the outcome he wanted then I don’t know what to tell you really. You don’t use phrases like “let’s have trial by combat” or “you have to take back your country with strength” on that day, in that moment, without expectation of the outcome that occurred. It’s frankly absurd to think otherwise. The fact that you claim you cant hear his dog whistling means very little.

No, he’s taking a position where he tries to make us think that he doesn’t take a side while his post ratio condemning 1/6 versus the hundreds of days of leftist rioting betrays him.
Also, I didn’t say it was Democrats fault but you can’t honestly say that the permissive atmosphere towards the pervasive rioting from the left didn’t contribute at least a little bit. In the end, it’s the fault of the people who committed the crimes on 1/6 and I’ve probably written a dozen times that they should be prosecuted. Can you say the same about your posts about any of the rioters over the summer?
I’ve continuously said the rioters at George Floyd protests should be held accountable for their actions. You are just making a strawman that I’m defending some action because I don’t daily post about an ongoing protest that has been happening for over a year. The 1/6 event is a singularity and thus an obviously more newsworthy “event”. By day 400 of BLM protests, what are you expecting the be posted? The only time I see you posting about them nowadays is when you are creating the strawman that your stereotypical liberal doesn’t condemn them.
This is 100% not possible. You need to pick a team to be on. You cannot call out both sides from the sidelines.

You're proving my point. There have been posts about 1/6 nearly every day this year and you’ve contributed quite a few opinions about them. So for 6 months, we’ve been talking about a half-day event. Yet you say that there’s nothing to talk about with the 270 days plus of rioting and occupations and crime and insurrections? You certainly didn’t post about them as much as the one day event? Do you think there aren’t a multitude more stories of interest in the events across the country? Why is it that you just wipe it away?

I never said I didn't. But it's also entirely possible to abhor the BLM riots and 1/6 with equal fervor and NOT feel like you are taking a political team's side. You know, it's called common sense. Maybe that should be the name of a new political party.
Do you have a specific newsworthy event that you feel was undercovered by the media or underdiscussed by this message board? What tangible story are you upset that I’m not discussing with equal time as an insurrection to overturn the result of a free and fair election?
Ok. Sure. I just haven’t seen the equal fervor. I’ve seen a ton of Trump ordered a bunch of cultists to overthrow the government and very little of the Antifa and other anarchists. It is possible for sure and maybe you all feel that way. But I’m just saying that it hasn’t felt equal in some people’s postings at all. Regardless, we’re going down an unproductive route so I think this angle is done.
Did you know that there was an occupied zone of more than a block in Minneapolis where police and fire weren’t allowed to go for a year? Or in Portland for most of a year?
I’d also like to know who was behind the multiple insurrections at federal courthouses. We know that one 27-year old who stirred up violence against police on 1/6 had a lego Capitol building in his house. What do we know that’s been spread on all the news channels about any of the instigators of any of the violent riots? What groups are they all a part of? The media has covered in depth some fringe right wing groups, how about the groups on the other riots?

But feel free to make a thread about specific incidents you feel we should be focused on instead of 1/6 and I’ll be happy to respond with my opinion.
