USA Today was the only mainstream, national outlet that would cover the Iraqi War Veteran turned DC Worker (and an one-time, Democratic -- yes, Democratic -- candidate from California), that was attacked at McDonald's by an alleged group of BLM supporters (whether they were official or unofficial). It was totally ignored by the US media, repeatedly, even after verified by both McDonald's, the Stars'n Stripes and Military.COM.
Eventually it made it to the local DC network affiliate as more information came out, with McDonald's sharing their CCTV footage and available audio. That's only when the Washington Post finally picked it up, and then the NY Times was forced to. But for the week prior, it was downplayed, and it wasn't until it was all there, and several Democratic party groups got involved (since he was a former candidate), it was finally taken seriously.
I really have to appreciate USA Today at times, because they will go against the grain, and post things that would normally only make it to Fox, and nothing else.
