Trump is finally Uniting this Country!

Shookster, I already made it simple - if you think a tiny contingency of US troops is going to piece Syria back together, then join up and go relieve some boys of their duties.
You didn't answer my question, Dickwad. Do you think Turkey would dare to roll their tanks into Syria if Trump hadn't assured Erdogan that we're getting the hell out of there? Is the Turkish military in Syria a good thing for peace the region and the ultimate elimination of ISIS?

Sound good? You have all the answers
Damn straight. I've sure has hell been punking your sorry ass.

Yes, of course they would. Eventually they'd say "we're coming and get out of the way". They need to create a massive safe zone on their border to resettle 2M refugees and the Turkish people are demanding this be done.

Is the US military in Syria a good thing for peace in the region? Or for us?

At some point we are all going to have to realize that teddy roosevelt and Eisenhower had a lot of wisdom when it comes to foreign affairs and the military.

The answer is both. It stabilizes the region and prevents the resurgence of groups like ISIS from reorganizing. People may not like, but it’s time to own up to the harsh reality of the situation...we will be there from here on out.

It doesn't stabilize the region though. As an outside actor, we can not achieve detente for them through military presence or action. They will still try to kill each other on a smaller scale, but what's the point? So that we can dump billions and trillions of dollars into maintaining military stability in a region that at it's best will return 1/100th of the investment?

You have to think of it more as peace keeping and yes it it’s a sunk cost. But would you rather have to send thousands of more troops in a few years to reclaim land when Iraq’s non-existent military gets destroyed by guys in Toyota Trucks.

Fight them there or fight them everywhere because it’s only so long before they’re setting up training camps to go global. Keeping ground forces their helps to keep disorganization.

And it’s only going to get worse. We may not see it in our lifetimes, but how do you think this region will do when oil isn’t the be all end all? Water is already scarce in the arid regions, the world’s heating up, it will be even harder to come by. Corrupt religious governments, warlords, less economic chance for success, and less water. This area will be a thorn in our side forever.

All of the things you are saying that they will do, they already are. We are going broke just trying to slow down something that's already happening and its putting us into bankruptcy. Let's just stay out of it until they do something to us and then respond with everything we've got.

You mean like the UK and France which already are? I'm sure that you'd like to outsource our entire national security, Mr. 401k Republican.
Obama already did that for the UN. This is merely taking control of our destiny. Let the shithole countries battle this out

Can someone tell me how Trump will win in a landslide when ~50% of the country thinks that he should be impeached AND removed from office right now?

since the dawn of time that area has been at war. we were foolish to think we could bring peace to that region. we dont have the money to do the job that needs to be done.

The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE.....

I could respect that position if you and your buddies here weren’t blaming President Obama for the growth of ISIS. You can’t have it both ways.

obama did what he said he was going to do. in fact i supported obama for doing it at that time. the problem was he pulled out to quickly and left stock piles of weapons. isis saw the power vacuum and grabbed the weapons we foolishly left behind and began a brutal campaign in the area we supposedly liberated.

i didnt criticize obama for pulling out, i always wanted that. it was the manner in which he did it. this time we have a nato ally in the region to help.

Obama pulled out too quickly? You do know that the withdrawal timeframe was set long before Obama took office, right?

in Trump’s case, he announces our immediate withdrawal on Sunday and three days later the Turkish army is on the move.

obama ran on pulling the troops out of the area. that was the reason i voted for him in 2008. i thought there was a very long term pull out plan something like 10 years. correct me if im wrong on that i dont remember it that well. obama wanted them out asap and at that time i thought he was correct. unfortunately no other local allies stepped up to help maintain peace in that area.

i criticized obama because we said we helped the area only to lead to another massive enemy to ravage that area again. he should have gotten help from other allies to help maintain peace in our absence. right now turkey is at least stepping up. id like to see other nato countries do the same. i dont like turkey and i dont like the kurds being hung out to dry, but after 20 years of war i just want to get out of that area all together.

You do know that the withdrawal date was negotiable in 2011 and the Iraqis were open to extending the stay of a smaller force, right?

Here's an article that mostly details Biden's lies on the subject, but correctly notes that some inside the O Admin were correctly wanting to leave behind a smaller contingency (3,500) troops to stabilize security in Iraq and lobbying O to do it, but Obama squashed that idea and killed it. The smaller contingency had the support of the Iraqi Government but Obama pulled every last soldier anyways. A few years later Obama would have to send 5,000 troops back anyways since ISIS had taken over half the country. (You know, the JV team)

My recollection was that Bush said we'd be out in 2011 and Obama followed through.

B-B-But...but...but...I could have sworn you said...
You're eager to leave our small force numbers in between two warring factions so go do the heavy lifting yourself.

lol Jesus Christ dude, once again you're like debating a rock.

Here I'll make this as elementary as possible for you:

Leaving behind 3,500 troops in 2011 Iraq does not equal a few hundred troops in 2019 Syria. One was relatively stable with a functioning government, the other is hell on earth with 6 different warring factions and no central governance to be heard of.

lol @ 85's idiot level excuses to support his braindead trump nut hugging
No sh*t, Ninja.

The irony goes right over this idiot's head and his kneejerk responses are typically batsh*t crazy nonsense. But we're all supposed to believe he's some hotshot international businessman. :)

What a crock!

Okay, so we betray our ISIS allies, the Kurds, and high tail it out of the region as they get slaughtered....

....er, wait...we're turning around and sending troops to Saudi Arabia??!? WTF?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Trump's batsh*t crazy decision to pull our special forces troops from northern Syria.

If somebody thinks I'm being too hard on our blowhard Commander-in-Chief, please explain the rationale for this decision.

Sure seems like it:
  1. Promotes an ISIS resurgence.
  2. Helps Syria's Assad (supposedly a foe)
  3. Helps Russia (supposedly a foe)
  4. Helps Turkey
  5. Helps Iran (supposedly a foe)
  6. Stabs our Kurdish allies in the back
  7. Destabilizes the region (yet again).
  8. Pisses off many of his diehard base.
And for what? To get us out of the Middle East? Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. That was before the Saudi Prince called his buddy, Donald.

You're saying this decision doesn't help ISIS? This decision doesn't help Turkey? This decision doesn't delight Putin?

Screw the Kurds! They've only been our staunchest allies for well over a decade.

On one hand you got Turkey who is NATO treaty allie and then you got the Kurds who have no treaty with the US. Syria is just F-ed up. We can't always be the world police. At some point , where is it, that we say American blood and treasure is not acceptable. Why is it nobody in Europe, I don't know, Germany or England not step up?

Jesus, could the responses here get any more pathetic?

What do our Trumpsters do when forced to defend the batsh*t crazy and slimeball antics of the TV celebrity they voted into the Office of the President? They punt.

Rather than apologize -- or even acknowledge what a horrible mistake it was to put that senile megalomaniac in office -- we're told the crazy sh*t Trump says and does doesn't really matter anyway,

The most terrifying aspect of this letter is at some point Trump looked at it after working on it and said "yes, that is perfect, send it out"

Can you imagine how utterly brain dead the first draft looked if this is the final product?

Oh wait, cadet bone spurs doesn't do drafts.

Beside the fact it looks like it was written by a Sixth Grader (I'm probably being overly generous here), it was clearly a lame attempt to scare Erdogan because Trump realized he'd f'ked up.

Imagine being ok with the violent loss of innocent human life as long as they aren't americans.

As you read this disingenuous bullshit from these liberals exerting faux concern all of a sudden, just remember that they gave not 2 shits when their boy Obama sat back and watched Syria burn for 6 years under his watch as more than 400,000 people died in a war that he could have at least drastically slowed if he had intervened after his "red line" promise.

Assad bombing his own people out of existence? No problem! Give Obama 4 more years! This is Syria's fight not ours!

The US removing our tiny amount of troops out of the way to avoid being caught in a new war that doesn't involve us, involving Kurdish troops that we went to great expense to arm and train? OMG YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT HUMAN LIFE ANYMORE!!!!

It's all total bullshit.

Yeah, Sparky. :)

The House vote condemning Trump's Syria Exit was
354 to 60 -- which included two-thirds of the House Republican caucus and all of it top leaders.
