UCF basketball post season play?

Why would a school turn down a paid for boondoggle to Las Vegas?

What's going on in Morgantown end of the month? Nothing.

Lame decision to turn down post season play. I'd be pissed if I was a player on a team that turned it down. I'd be like uh...do I have a decision to play? Plush Vegas hotel vs Morgantown dorm room. hmmm...who makes these decisions? I'd like to hear their reasoning to turn it down.
There’s ZERO money for the schools…nothing. The tournament pays for the team’s expenses and the NIL goes to the CURRENT players on the basketball team.

And perhaps (if you were to win), that extra money would be enough to keep a player or two for next year.

Some players are genuinely happy where they’re at, but it’s hard to turn down more money from elsewhere. More money to a underclass man this year could be enough to deter them from leaving next year? You never know.

I went to the CBI games about a dozen years ago. They were fun. It was $5 to see Marcus Jordan play in the CBI. Donnie Jones was coach back then. He was fired by Danny White shortly after he arrived at UCF. His teams would get ahead by 10-20 points only to blow the lead at the end of the games. He was so Happy when he beat Dawkins last season. He walked right by us with a huge smile on his face. Also, I saw the winner of the Crown gets $300k to share. Then $100k for second and $50k for 3rd and 4th. That's a big incentive for the players.

That is the goal I hope for each year too. It has only happened once with Dawkins over the last 9 years. We have beaten and could beat some of the teams in the the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately we lost to many of the teams in the Crown. I hope we win the inaugural Crown Tournament. But, if we do, then we may be stuck with Dawkins even longer. They might give him another extension. Right now he is only guaranteed 1 more season unless he is bought out, and I doubt that will happen.

I just feel keeping Thiam and Hall and adding in the portal is our only shot. Otherwise blow the whole thing up with a new coach. That coach also has to be legit and bring players with him. Gotta put some serious $ in bball.

I agree. If you hire, it has to be a coach from tourney from a lesser known school that will bring players with him. Not career asst coaches that players like but players won’t follow like Messer.

That makes sense. Messer came without any players. The team was a total rebuild. It has been a real basket case. She has found a few good players, but many more are needed. When Dawkins came, the team had a core of good players including BJ Taylor and Tacko Fall. The previous coach was a decent recruiter, but not a good game coach. Danny White saw them blowing huge leads and fired him. Then Dawkins came and he brought in his son. He seemed more with it when his son was on the team.

How much can College Basketball Crown teams make in Las Vegas?

The Vivid Seats Ambassador Program offers $500,000 in NIL brand ambassador deals, rewarding the top four teams:• Champion (Primary Ambassador Team): $300,000 NIL package• Runner-up (Secondary Ambassador Team): $100,000 NIL package• Semifinalists (Third and fourth Ambassador Team who do not advance to finals): $50,000 NIL package each.

I agree 1000%. Only shot is to keep those 2 and get really lucky with the portal. But instead of luck, we need $$$$

Dawkins son transferring from Michigan gave us the edge. Tacko, BJ, Chad Brown, Abrey Dawkins?

Those days were great for UCF basketball. Those guys all played like a team. I miss those days. Back then the players transferred much less than they do now. Those were Dawkins' golden years at UCF. It's been pretty much downhill since then.

Fan Duel and Draft Kings are apparently voiding bets for the CBC.

Nothing is showing up for Hard Rock either.

This tournament will go down in flames if they can't have any wagering for it.

College Basketball Crown

Anything happening for the first time ever is bound to hit some snags, but we didn’t really expect any from a betting standpoint for the College Basketball Crown. However, that appears to be a major development in the sports betting world. CBC betting is only being allowed in certain jurisdictions, as gaming regulators have told sportsbooks in several states to take the odds down.

DraftKings Sportsbook confirmed it has taken down the betting odds across their entire network of states.

Circa Sports, one of the sponsors of the event, is still taking bets in Nevada, Iowa, Colorado and Kentucky, but was asked to pull them down in Illinois.

I jumped on a segment with Mitch Moss and Pauly Howard on Follow The Money shortly after a VSiN listener who goes by @bertwedemeyer31 on X alerted us that DraftKings and Fanduel had taken down all CBC games.

A Ohio resident on X, @rzrbladesports, said that their bets at Prime Sportsbook were voided and all of the other sportsbooks in the Buckeye State pulled the game lines.

We had seen significant betting action on the Over for each one of the College Basketball Crown games on Monday and the Utah vs. Butler game came through, finishing with 170 points and a total of 158.5. The final game of the night between Georgetown and Washington State has moved as much as eight points on the total and the Nebraska vs. Arizona State game had moved upward of seven points.

However, that is not why the games were pulled off the board, as we saw a similar development in the NIT and CBI.

One possible reason: The College Basketball Crown is the first tournament of its kind to have a financial prize for its winners. This is a NIL-based event, with the champion taking home $500,000 in prize money through a “NIL package.” The runner-up gets $300,000, while the third and fourth-place teams get $50,000.

Butler basketball will forever have the distinction of playing in the inaugural game of the College Basketball Crown tournament, and that memory will forever be a positive one.

Pierre Brooks II's layup with 3 seconds left lifted Butler to an 86-84 victory over Utah. Brooks led Butler (15-19) with 22 points.

Butler awaits the winner of the George Washington vs. Boise State game.

fyi, the College Basketball Crown bets are back up on the Hard Rock app. I wonder what changed?

Oh...IT'S GAMEDAY....haters please just tune out. Win or lose, this is a plus-plus for the team in my opinion. But, whatever. haters gonna hate. There are plenty of other fire-the-coach fire-the-AD posts you can participate on. Go there instead with that junk.

Nebraska beat Arizona State last night. I watched a little bit of that game.

We still don't know who is playing and who isn't. Unless it was posted somewhere today. Happy April Fool's Day! Yes, UCF is actually playing basketball in April. A first and not a joke. :p :p :p

  • DePaul vs. Cincinnati, 3 p.m. April 1
  • Oregon State vs. UCF, 5:30 p.m. April 1
  • Colorado vs. Villanova, 8:30 p.m. April 1

There ya go! One of us will win a quarter. :p

The only reason I put a buck for UCF is I thought I saw Keyshawn Hall's photo of him boarding the plane to vegas.

But, I think UCF beats Oregon State today. Then lose to Cinci next round.

Then we all can go back and talk about firing the coach and AD.

Go Knights! BEAT THE BEAVERS !!!!

Cincy blowing out DePaul. They playing pretty good. I haven't watched much of the game just in and out from doing yardwork and then catching up on score.
