This shouldn't come as a major surprise, but there is buzz circulating that new Auburn coach Hugh Freeze is targeting UCF WR coach Grant Heard to be on the new Tigers staff.
Heard and Freeze have longstanding ties, dating back to when the pair coached at Arkansas State and he joined Freeze at Ole Miss for the entire tenure (2012-16).
I am also curious about S.J. Tuohy, who heads up football ops. He left Freeze's Liberty staff to come to UCF. The Tuohy family and Hugh Freeze are very close, dating back to when S.J. father and Freeze were youth coaches at Briarcrest HS in Memphis. S.J.'s parents were even in attendance at Freeze's press conference at Auburn earlier this week. I haven't heard anything specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised if S.J. has an opportunity to join a Freeze Auburn staff on the administrative side.
