UCF Portal Thread-signings/rumors

Guess I’m not shocked because Thompson has multiple years of eligibility left, but could also be reverse leverage on McCall to commit soon as the transfer QB market is drying up very fast.

I was just this morning writing about a great fit for our program (ex NCSt QB), and by lunchtime he was off the market.

We might be starting the Timmy era soon at this rate.

You are welcome Timmy’s Dad :)

FWIW, Timmy played pretty well, pretty efficient throwing the ball, ran better than at his previous school. But he was slower in making decisions and did not seem to be a guy the team rallied around (probably 2 of the better traits JRP has). There was never a sense of “I got this” vibe coming from Timmy.

Keeping Timmy here next year is important IMO. This is one reason I don’t think a 1 year rental helps our program gain traction at a very important time. If McCall walks in, I assume Timmy feels disrespected (again) and leaves the next day.

OTOH, if we bring in a young high ceiling guy, Timmy stays because he still has an advantage until one of the young guys beats him out or doesn’t. In either case, we have a multi year starter to build around.

Hopefully we build a big enough lead to let Timmy and Dylan have some bowl game reps. Or, insert them in a few plays if nothing else. Dylan's redshirt is protected either way. I would love to see something out of our potential future starting Qbs. Or, give us some news. So far nothing announced. Chess pieces are currently being moved around I guess.

1 year of eligibility left…

Per 247, Brooks is a 31 game starter at both center and left guard over four seasons with the Bulldogs, totaling over 2500 snaps. His strength is as a pass blocker with Pro Football Focus crediting the 6-foot-3, 335-pounder with a 82.4 (2021), 78.3 (2022), and 83.2 (2023) grade over the past three seasons.

You really need to stop thinking about Lobotomy Cane so much……
You mean that Belichick-Brady montage I was referring to earlier.

In other news...

From the article...

Many Tiger fans want Cameron Ward leading the quarterback room in 2024 considering the success of QBs named Cam in East Central Alabama in the past and how spectacular the former Incarnate Word and Wazzu signal-caller has been at every level. Unfortunately, a big-money school that’s been known to make gaudy NIL promises — promises that have not always been met – Miami, has Ward on campus on December 12.

The U will surely make a push for the ex-Cougar, and it may just work. Hopefully, Ward heeds Joel Klatt’s wisdom…

This is not a knock, but if he goes to Miami? I don’t see him being in the Heisman race,” Klatt said (AthlonSports). “I don’t see Miami having the type of team season that it would require for him to go do that.

UCF

UCF is the closest school to Covington, Ga., and Gus recruited Nyland out of high school. Nyland visited Auburn unofficially and has a pre-existing relationship with Gus. Nyland also probably got good vibes about UCF from Rian Davis. (Maybe that wasn't such a wasted scholarship after all.)

Arkansas

Of the finalists, only Arkansas offered Nyland out of high school. The offer came after Nyland was committed to Georgia and shortly after Sam Pittman took over for a fired Chad Morris

North Carolina

North Carolina special teams coach Larry Porter was Nyland's area recruiter at Auburn.

Kentucky also offered Nyland in high school.

The other two programs are in the running for financial reasons. My guess is Nyland will commit to the coach he feels most comfortable with. In other words, UCF has a legit 33% shot or better.

dorks on ucfXmafia having a meltdown about Grayson

guess they think it isn’t happening
The whole thing with McCall was way too thirsty and desperate for me. If he comes to UCF, great - awesome. If not, we will get someone else. Some of those Twitter crazies have been kind of embarrassing.

A lot of our fanbase began following the team during the undefeated years, when it was a lot easier to be brash and loud on ‘X’. Same people have probably been humbled a bit the last few years, looking for an elite win (via the transfer portal) anywhere they can get it.

random fans is one thing and not that big of a deal but I don’t like how ucf media covered it. They went full tmz sports ..cringe

Why does everyone think McCall isn’t happening? I haven’t seen anything eluding to that other than that RBJ dude freaking out. He also had to dig up and repost some tweet from 2014 of him referencing something about black ppl that seemed innocent.

What ever helps you cope. LOL.

It appears that McCall won’t be going to either UCF or NCS. Like I said before, he got concussed in October and missed the rest of the year. Dude is one hit from not playing again.

McCall has been trying to transition to being a 100% drop back passer. Dude doesn’t fit the offense Malzahn runs. Not getting him is not a big miss imo.

As I have said all along, even if he commits, it isn't over until he signs in January.

At any point, a major player can swoop in with more clout and a bigger bankroll.

My fear is a Ohio State University will screw everything up. Cannot count out Duke, either.

The bigger problem, however, is the domino effect this has the potential to have on other UCF players, current and future.

You literally have been slobbering all over the prospect of UCF getting him. You have the credibility of a used doormat. There’s literally nothing for him to sign other than a non binding grant aid agreement that he can sign with multiple schools. Transfers just enroll and that’s it.

Although, not getting him is not big miss imo…the hype and clown show surrounding his UCF recruitment is a big L.

He’s a grad transfer and not a high school kid . He wants to know what plans the staff have for helping him get to the league and he wants to get paid.

What’s the point of taking him to a UCF basketball game with Malhazan, his wife and Terry Mohajir? Cant hide the public L now. Clown show.

So does anyone know the story yet? Were we just leverage for a better deal or was he serious but the nice fruit basket we offered not enough? I always tell my fruit guys to add more pineapple

I don’t care what it was. He wasn’t good enough to make us a contender. Why pay someone a lot of money to lose 5 games?

I’m with you on results, but would like to know things broke down so we know what to expect with the next guy (hope there IS a next guy)
He was not sold 100% on going to UCF or NCS. Looks like there could be another school involved now offering more money. I’ll say Auburn, but that’s just a guess on my part.
