UCF Transfer Portal Updates

Transfer portal is easily fixed. NIL contracts with buyouts. Right now they are completely one-sided. 3 year deals. If you leave, there is a buyout. The jumping will slow down immediately. Imagine if the NFL was all one year deals.
it’s not even one year deals

It’s 6 months

You are absolutely right no better way to put it!
Agreed. Think about the Penn State QB that is in the portal. He’s a very solid backup, one of the most productive in the country. If something were to happen to Allar, Penn State won’t have their backup now. That affects their entire season.

And you can’t blame the kid. He’s got to find a place to play before the spots/money dries up. That’s the system.

The problem is, they’re also still student athletes and they need to find a new home before the semester starts.

They need to find a way for the players to be fairly compensated, while also limiting their ability to bounce around from team to team so much.

This definately isn't true, has thrown for less than 300 yards, our team alone had 3 guys exceed that easily. Interesting change of pace in small doses is about the best way to describe him.

Will he start for someone next year? Probably, as every team in the nation is chasing portal QBs. But if you do, it is based on potential, not results.

What is Frost actually doing? I hope “buddy” knows he’s got to bring in an, almost, entire portal team.

Frost whistling Dixie while UCF football is burning?

Is there anything stopping schools from doing that now? The schools struggling of course want to make deals, the schools with deep pockets and success will happily offer 1 year NIL deals.

B1G and SEC is continuing to only get deeper pockets compared to the rest of the schools with their TV deals.

NFL has a salary cap which limits these situations, this is more like MLB. If all the best players want to join the same team and the owners want to pay for it, its fair game. What these schools are paying for players is still peanuts compared to professional sports, schools like Texas is not sweating it.

Is Riley Trujillo still in the portal I see he may have enrolled at UCF after he entered the portal
As of this morning yes....same with Colson. I'm not sure either will get many calls above the FCS level.

A large number of our transfers out have already found teams.

And Josh Celiscar decided to go to the temple terrace community college of fast food workers....yikes

Didn’t Trujillo have solid offers out of HS?

I don’t see KZ and Frost being interested in Colson

Trujillo reminds me of Bortles but faster

Celiscar brother was a heck of a football player. He also is a college coach. You would think he would’ve given better advice to his brother. Who knows.

True, 10 P4 offers.....I guess maybe if he kept up some of those relationships.....but there are over 300 QBs in the portal right now, plus NSD just ended so most teams picked up a young guy.

BTW, Kitler to Arkansas

Hopefully you aren't comparing a high schoolers tape to a 3rd pick in the first round of the NFL draft.
Actually, comparing high school tapes with high school tapes. I saw Bortles in high school. It’s funny he got very few offers for the quarterback position coming outta high school, most colleges wanted to move him He got less than Trujillo

Yes, I think he only had two offers as a QB.....and a bunch of offers as a TE. UCF took two recruits that year and Bortles was the "other" guy.

I'm a little concerned at how little we're hearing about portal activity, except for last year's guys leaving and finding new employers. I hope Frost's heart is in this. He looked a little shell-shocked at his introductory presser.
Missing the best part of this year's portal will be detrimental for being even a 6-6 team next year. Agree he did not come off well at the press conference, and his wife looked very scared for some reason. No reason why that can't be put into the rear view though. Then TMo was giddy like a 3rd grader who ate a box of chocolate bars to balance it out

His stats at Texas AM 1 asst T. Have no idea if he was injured, but looks like went from UCF starter to deeeeeeeeeeeep backup. But, at least he got paid well for that T. Reminds me of O'Keefe transferring and getting 1/10 of the receptions at BC.

Not really, played in 5 games at BC in 2023, had 23 catches for 235 yards and a TD (another rushing TD), was injured in game 6 so bad he had to retire. He wasn't catching much more than 4.5 balls a game here.....plus his QB Tommy C was (and is) not a good passer.

So not a good example of a bad transfer experience.....

Brother, if you’re comparing any QB’s to our QB situation last year…I don’t know what to tell you.

We had three different starting QB’s. This kid was a true backup and still found a way to impact the game.

You’re arguing just to argue. There’s no metric to quantify backup power rankings or anything. I’m just saying, he completed over 70% of his passes, threw 5 TD’s, ran for over 240 yards and 4 TD’s (6 TD’s on the ground last year). He’s a very good backup on a team playing for a title. And it sucks for his teammates, coaches, fan base that he won’t be available in the playoffs if the starter goes down.

And it’s not his fault.

Shark Boy is clueless. What UCF would attract interest in the portal? Not Colson, for sure Not Rizk…those dudes would be left to an FCS team.

Malzone failed UCF football in every possible way…none of the QBs are any good. UCF would be lucky to get Pribula…he would become QB1 the minute he signs.
