UCF vs cows Game Thread ⚔️🖤💛

He literally just led a game winning drive on the road against the biggest rival and punctuated the drive with a Sports Center Top 10 play.

It is a tough crowd on here tonight.
Gave you a like, but the O seemed to struggle with him. Bailed out by some amazing catches. Glad Boomer didn't have to kick a winning field goal. I never trust a kicker! Especially a freshman. Even Boomer. Hasn't kicked a game winner yet, but he will, and after that, I will feel comfortable with him kicking a game winner, until then, put the ball in the end zone.

i actually wanted us to go for it on 4th down the last drive because the defense can't stop them and that was before the guy ran the punt back to our territory anyway.
I didn't we tried that in games and didn't make it. Take the points when you can get them.

They were down 28-0 in front of small home crowd on a 1-10 season with a coaching staff that will be gone, true freshman QB playing his 2nd game and several players that probably will hit the transfer portal tomorrow, but for nearly a half they looked more like a team with heart and excitement than UCF has looked in multiple games this year.

Our qb1 got hurt end of 1st half.

Happy for the win but that was embarassing all the way around!

Plumlee was a nightmare matchup for them bc his skill set goes at their biggest weakness . not necessarily the case vs Cinci’s Defense

another few angles of the Holler catch

Wait, they weren’t? Missed tackles were THE main issue all night. What game did you watch bruh?
Ok, yeah you're right, missed tackles is the only problem with the defense. Flawless coaching, just the players aren't trying. It's also the reason we've given up an average of 31 points per game in the last 5 games where the opposing team has been able to complete a pass.

Keene nearly lost us the game. Nah
I just see a weird ratio on this board talking up Keene all year but JRP has always brought more heart and a way better offensive dynamic, offensive result (despite the loyalty of this board). It’s been unbelievable how y’all have excused this and that, not giving credit where credit is due. JRP is clearly the best qb option, Gus doesn’t fumble the ball, miss throw a ball or miss tackles. Twill doesn’t miss tackles. Get you’re shit together guys, don’t be such a shitty fan base.
The hypocrisy is palpatable…. Just replace Mikey’s name for every post. 🤣. Mikey just keeps proving the haters wrong. He’s been making big plays under pressure situations all year but gets no credit. He’s not perfect (no QB is), but Like Gus says…”He’s a winner” and he made plenty of big plays with his arm and running the ball….he’s a huge reason why we won. Give the kid credit…refusal to do so is just a bad look.

Man, that view really illustrates how bad of a throw that was. It didn't need to be that difficult of a catch. Holler had so much separation.
If he throws the ball to the inside it gets intercepted or deflected…..it was a great catch no doubt….the throw was good enough for a TD….I guess for some…. TD passes are not good enough when Mikey throws them…he has to make the perfect pass, perfect run…..things move quickly in a game…he doesn’t have forever back there….the difference between a game winning TD and an interception can come down to throwing the ball to the outside shoulder.

End result was not an incompletion or interception…..it was game winning TD pass thrown by Mikey Keene in a win or lose situation….thanks to Mikey and Alec’s come from behind game winning last play…we’re playing for a championship and keep the cotton bowl dream alive. As I’ve said, I’ll cheer for JRP and Mikey if they’re in the game….but I admit that I enjoy watching Mikey prove the haters wrong…Mikey’s not perfect…he’ll make mistakes just like JRP…but it is a team game

They are comfortable losing? Go tell that to their face. Anybody on that squad. They fought their asses off. When the breaks went against them, they gave everything they had, and that is what it took. I am proud of this team. They fight. If they were comfortable loosing, did you see those 2 catches on our last possession. Clearly, you know nothing John Snow! What part about those catches says they dont give a shit! This was a rivalry game. The other team wanted to ruin our party. At no point did they ever back down, and we were able to come out with a win. Sorry they didn't live up to your expectations. But we are 1-0 this week, which gives us a chance at a conference championship. Whether you win by 1 or by 50, a win is a win. Check the record column!
I agree. We can throw regular season records out the door in a rivalry game. Anything can happen.

There have been more than a century’s worth ( 122)of games between Army/Navy…..they have almost evenly split wins/losses ……with Navy having a slight edge of nine wins over 122 games.

Lots of emotion, lots of pride play a huge factor in rivalry games….USF gave us their best shot…but once again…UCF is USF’s “daddy”. 👨‍👧😄

I could not disagree more with this.

I'm happy the Knights saved themselves from one of The Most Embarrassing Losses of All Time.

But that said, I was shocked the replay official called the last reviewed play a touchdown. I watched it live on TV and on replay and I don't see how anyone could look at that play in slo-mo and call that catch inbounds. But all Knight fans had better thank their lucky stars they did or this place would be a morgue this morning. :)

This is probably the best angle showing the toe down.

Nah. Boomer would have made the FG

Thats great but their kicker would have tried a 48 yard fg. Hes made a 49 yarder this year. Game didn’t end on the TD.
if we were relying on a FG to win, the clock would have been run down so it's the last act or close to it. and if it wasn't the last act no way we attempt a short kickoff if all they needs is a FG to win the game.

Blowing a 28-0 lead to your rival and losing would have had Gus’s seat very hot. I have said before USF always plays fueled by pure hate that we rarely match , that showed when they were down 4 touchdowns yet still were going at every ball trying to spark momentum. UCF players have never matched it even in wins

We should have handed off. Then run clock down. They got ball to 31 as it was. The decusions Gus makes on time management and kicks is odd. A 60 something yard FG and give them ball at midfield are dumb decisions. Better off kicking it out of bounds so they get it at 35. Either the coaches don’t know what they are doing or the kids aren’t listening. Both are coaches faults.

Perry was head hunting last night. To a detriment though.

If we don’t fumble 3 times we win the game going away despite the defense not showing up whatsoever. The offense didn’t struggle outside of the 3 fumbled possessions. One was on a second down that would have brought up a 3rd and short. One was on a first down run that would have been second and short. The third was on a second down run that would have been a first down. So none of those drives were in bad shape outside of the fumbles. And we scored on 3 of the other 4 drives.

Turnovers were equal, we had 100 more yards than them, time of possession about equal. Their 3 turnovers allowed us to breakout to a big lead, our 3 turnovers allowed them to get back. I don't see yesterday's game as one where we were clearly the superior team and just allowed them to hang around.

Exactly. We jumped out to a 31-7 lead based on +3 turnover margin. Not one specific player. We overcame a turnover barrage and futile defensive performance in the second half because on 3 of the 4 offensive drives where we didn’t turn it over we scored. Including the final one.

Thanks for posting this. The one they kept showing on TV was the first of those tweets where his knee was clearly out-of-bounds. The second tweet you posted does show his toe hit the playing field a mega-second before the knee hits out-of-bounds. I don't recall ever really seeing this still shot on TV last night.

An amazing play!
