UCF vs SC State Game thread ⚔️🖤💛

Takeaways

1) JRP can ball and keep drives alive
2) Special teams is still a disaster minus the blocked punt for td
3) our freshmen are better than the other team’s freshmen. Nikai, Townsend can play
4)O line needs work but did ok in pass protection
5) Gus needs to spread the ball beyond bowser. JR and RJ and MAR are more than capable to tote the rock. Fresh legs are important

Bowser got 22 touches, and wasn't particularly effective. Will be interesting if Gus sticks with him next week if he has similar performance.

Their defensive strength is their line and they were better defending his north/south running. Jrich averaged 9.3 yards running away from them

Spot on from my point of view. Our true Freshman look great and I think TC is coming in now. Can’t wait…

we have 2nd and 3rd string def in, but we still seem to struggle with a mobile qb. Hopefully our #1 def is on point next week. We haven’t allowed any rushing yard from the RBs.

Him leaving would be totally respectable though. Got a taste of starting last year, lost his spot as the incumbent, and doesn’t get playing time in a blowout against an FCS opponent
I just think Gus felt JRP needed the live reps. Mikey had nothing to prove with 2 minutes left. It was the right call to let the true freshman get the final snaps. Mikey is still QB2 what surprised me was how long Bowser stayed in.

Yeah it's not like he's the starting QB being poached by another team.

But my interpretation of putting TC in is he's the freshman getting some experience time. Nothing more than that. Would be disrespect to put Keene in the last 1 min of the last quarter..

I like Keene and would have no issue with him transferring should he not regain the #1 spot.

I liked what I saw from JRP. Seemed real confident too.

Lots of talent on our team and just need to coach them up. Fine tuning isn't completed yet on the 2-deep. What I liked about this game is JRP learned to settle down and to try and get his players making more plays than him :)

Good experience for a lot of players. This isn't like the junior year with Kevin Smith or 3rd year with KZ where the team was a well oiled machine at the start of the season. However, we probably have the best roster we have ever had. We still need to learn how to play together as a team.

Next week will be the next large test. Ask me after next week my win/loss prediction for the season. We have to play better together on offense to beat Louisville next week. Defense looks great.
