UCF press release:

Any additional COVID-19 positive test results recorded by UCF Athletics (student-athletes, coaches and staff) will be reported and recorded in the overall UCF campus case numbers.

UCF soon will be launching an online dashboard that will update the campus community regularly on the number of positive tests associated with the UCF community. The dashboard will be generic in nature, in accordance with medical and student privacy laws and public health best practices.

Any cases involving UCF student-athletes, like others on campus, will go through contact tracing and surveillance. The university will work closely with local health officials to determine who has had close contact with those who test positive and to notify them.

The decision not to separate specific future UCF Athletics numbers was made in part due to concerns expressed by our student-athletes as to the privacy of personal health information and the potential for public identification of specific individuals, given the small size of many UCF team rosters.

For all UCF students, faculty and staff, including student-athletes, if there is the possibility that they have been exposed to COVID-19 because a peer or colleague has tested positive, they will be notified directly. Through contact tracing, the Department of Health will assess and inform all persons who may be at risk and require quarantine and/or testing. In line with public health practices and medical and student privacy laws, only those who would need to know about confirmed COVID-19 cases for personal health and safety reasons will be informed.
