Haha there are much more important things for Universities to spend their endowments on than buying the QB an insurance policy.Maybe a universal insurance plan for players that skip out that is funded by University endowments ?

Have to point out our endowment is really small.Haha there are much more important things for Universities to spend their endowments on than buying the QB an insurance policy.
Yes, Curry has great size at 6'3. It's good to have mix for the WR position. The portal Gods have been good to us today!!
Did anyone else pickup on this nugget in Curry's history that he was recruited by Gus out of high school.
So all four and five stars go into the developmental league out of HS? Otherwise aren’t there too many people to pay?The whole thing is a joke. The NFL needs to pony up and create a developmental league. Let the kids get paid and try their luck there instead of wasting time in the classroom. Let real student athletes play in college.
I understand that is one possible extreme result but that won't happen. Some "Kobe's" will go but it won't kill college ball. If anything it will kill this fantasy that kids are worth $1MM per year.If all the good kids go to minor leagues, no one will watch college. It will be like baseball. No one really cares.
Over estimating why kids come to a school to play football. They come for the coaches, if all the best coaching staffs leave college and go to this other league, all those players will follow. Vast majority of football recruits are not weighing in on which school has the best academics, Alabama or Georgia. Plus no reason a kid can't go to college on the side and play in the other league.I understand that is one possible extreme result but that won't happen. It’s more like the other way around for Baseball. Ppl still love watching college baseball and a rare few are in tune with minor leagues. If all the good kids go to minor leagues, no one will watch college. It will be like baseball. No one really cares.
How many UCF games do you go to a year? Not many people go. Just look at stands that only hold a few thousand and still empty seats. Our games are rarely on tv. The demand is not there. Will be the same for football. No one will watch the minor league football either. Just like XFL and all the other off leagues. It’s more like the other way around for Baseball. No they need to get an education not just to get a job or play professional sports but to be well rounded, productive, informed citizens. No country or culture can survive without an educated and informed citizenry. Look at the history of civilization. The whole thing is a joke. A handful a year at most. They usually have a good crowd, but I’m not just referencing UCF baseball, college baseball as a whole does well at the good baseball schools and always find a game or two on ESPN channels. I’ve been to several different minor league games when I used to travel for work around the SE and they are typically empty and never televised. How many UCF games do you go to a year? Yes a few schools. Just like women’s basketball. It’s not popular at all for most part. When Bama loses 4 and 5 stars to minor leave they come for our best players and get them. We’d go back to getting CUSA type players. The product won’t be as good and over time will go unnoticed. When I was young MLB was most popular sport in USA. NFL was struggling for fans. Its not why most of them go to school. Arguably the college system right now is pretty broken for all. More people are in college to party and starve off the real world than be focused on being educated and building a career. Its more common to talk to someone that graduated with a degree that has nothing to do with their career. No they need to get an education not just to get a job or play professional sports but to be well rounded, productive, informed citizens. You are absolutely that it's not why most of them go to school. You are also right that our educational system is certainly damaged if not broken. However, the real purpose of an education is not to to prepare one for a job, though some degrees do that but it is to teach them to think, reason, and problem solve. I believe the world would be far better off with well educated populations, whether they may be digging ditches, playing pro ball or doing brain surgery. We all need to know how to think logically and to reason; how to read, and write and speak, and do everyday math. But most importantly, how to think and reason. Its not why most of them go to school. "There is no longer any loyalty in college football. Players are only loyal to what a school has done for them lately."Chris Hayes from OS had a decent article today on the Portal and NIL.
NCAA’s transfer portal has become big, fat joke | Commentary
Did you hear the joke about the guy who entered the NCAA transfer portal? So did 2,999 other guys, so they decided to enter also. It’s a trend that has gotten so far out of control that even …www.orlandosentinel.com
Yes. But they probably have FCS offers and are waiting. It was going to happen anyway. Most rosters were around 100 and have to be at 85.It's an honor for High school athletics to be recruited from division 1 schools. They get a full ride for their education. I have to wonder with so many players still in the transfer portal waiting to be picked up are some of them going to be disappointed and left without a scholarship.
I hope so. It is ripe for corruption.NIL is going to get canned eventually. The corruption already is palpable. Will only get worse.
Exactly, I want to see that message. Student athletes can no longer earn money because those choosing to pay them could do with unfair intentions. Or better yet, no one cares that the female volleyball stars can now earn on social media because fans don't care about that sport, but don't allow football/basketball players because I don't want my team to be in a disadvantage. I'm sure those football/basketball players will flock to the schools against NIL.There's not any real legal way to "can" NIL deals.
The whole issue came up because banning kids from earning money was always, at best, a legally grey area, and the public opinion on the issue had turned enough to flip the other way.
