Fire Gus

Mack is in year 6 and he happen to have his best season in year 4 (2022) which was kind of a "contract year". They played for the ACC title with a 9-5 record (although they did lose the last 4 games of the season). That bought him time for 2023 and now 2024.

Gus has nothing to hang his hat on in year 4. 4-8 or 5-7 season, losing a large amount of the 2-deep, and we are trending downward. Seems like an easy decision to me. There was a thread on here not that long ago and I put a big diatribe on it about how ADs need to rethink how they hire and maintain coaches. First deal is 4 years with optional 5th, after that 3 year deals with no options (or whatever someone thinks works). It's year 4 and I would not renew, and I'd move on.
they need to be 100% performance based. 2years to get your recruits in if you are recruiting over X level. then year 3 its x wins = y pay. if you don't his X wins 2 years in a row its cause to terminate the contract. Just like any other job, If you don't perform they look elsewhere. Why do we give coaches golden parachutes? they already earn 10-20x more than normal people.
