REPORT: UCF Football gets ready for Cincinnati

The UCF Knights are now coming off of a two game losing streak after a loss this past weekend against the Florida Gators.

For Coach Gus Malzahn and his players, it is on to Cincinnati as they begin to prepare for the Bearcats.

However, there still appears to be more questions than answers as to what it will take for UCF to break out of this slump.

1H v 2H defensive adjustments

Felt like we did better in the second half on defense. Johnson was in the zone IMO, and we changed up our blitz strategy. Felt like in the first half we bit on the hard count every time giving away our blitz strategy and allowing UF to pick it up with ease. I didn’t notice that as much in the second half. I think our defense, while not great, did enough this game. The offense was the issue.

Everything Gus Malzahn had to say following the loss at Florida...

Transcript to of the press conference:

Opening statement:

"Okay, first of all, congratulations to the Florida Gators. They outplayed us tonight, it was loud, their atmosphere was really good.

"You look at the game, we dug ourself a hole in the first quarter. Had trouble tackling, they made some explosive plays. Offensively, 1-7 on third down, you're not gonna be effective at all on 1-7 third down.

"And then we came out of the second half, we had a good drive, we had to settle for a field goal, we got to figure out ways to get in the end zone.

"Our kids battled, I'm proud of our players for battling. They played extremely hard, we had some young guys that hadn't played that got in there and made some plays, but the bottom line, we just didn't get it done.

"So congratulations to those guys, the non-conference is over. And so now we got to play better football, I expect that we will. Looking forward to playing Cincinnati, questions?"

For those traveling to Gainesville:

Be prepared to be flamed. Last time I was there, they hung a huge sign that said “Welcome to the school you couldn’t get into” across Archer road. Dont walk by the frat houses or they’ll come out. Also, avoid the law school area or the redneck Alachua County residents will douse you with beer bc they know 12 against 2 isn’t a fair fight. That’s what happened to Mr. Pitt Panther and I. *

Settlement designed to pay college athletes gets preliminary approval

The deal also eliminates the restrictions on schools directly paying their players which have long been a cornerstone of the NCAA's amateurism rules. If the settlement is finalized, starting next year schools will be allowed to pay their players up to a certain limit. The cap is expected to start at slightly more than $20 million per school and increase on an annual basis.

REPORT: UCF Assistant Coaches look for answers after Florida loss.

UCF Football coordinators Ted Roof and Tim Harris, Jr met with the media after the Knights most recent game against Florida.

Once again the result did not fall in UCF's favor, and coaches are continuing to evaluate the game plan and execution.

Couple of random observations from the game

We sat right up front by the UCF bench.

-Ethan Barr got really pissed for some reason, took some piece from his uniform or small piece of equipment and just chucked really hard into the stands. Not many other people seemed to notice, but I definitely saw it.

-At the end of the game some UCF fan was yelling at KJ with Kobe Hudson sitting right in front of us looking all dejected. The fan was talking trash to KJ saying they need a refund for his NIL and saying he sucks. Our group told the fan to cool it and tried to hype up Kobe some.

But overall bad sideline vibes
