Updated (sadly again): Former UCF DL Roy Williams has died

Just saw a Facebook post from Cedric Gagne-Marcoux that former UCF DL Roy Williams has died. Looks like he was living in Sioux Falls, SD. Not sure what happened.

Roy was one of the first four-star prospects to sign with UCF. UCF signed a trio of highly-rated JUCO prospects in 2002: Roy, Chad Mascoe and DeMarcus Johnson.

I went to his house in December 2001 for a signing day interview.

***UCF offers Division III WR transfer***

Jaden Richardson from Tufts University in Massachusetts. He's originally from California.

Richardson was one of the most exciting players in the nation for Division III, hauling in 46 receptions for 830 yards and 13 touchdowns this fall. Tufts' all-time receiving touchdowns leader (20), Richardson had six catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns in Tufts' opener at Trinity College. He also put up 10-153-3 and 4-147-2 numbers versus Williams College and Wesleyan University, respectively. He averaged 18.0 yards per catch and 92.2 yards per game.

16 UCF players earn All-Big 12 honors

UCF receiver Javon Baker and defensive end Tre’mon Morris-Brash were named All-Big 12 first-team selections, leading a group of 16 Knights to be honored on Wednesday.

The league’s 14 head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their players, made the selections.

Baker led the conference in receiving yards (966) and receiving yards per game (80.5), had the longest reception of the season (86 yards), and was second with average yards per catch (22.5). Morris-Brash led the Big 12 in tackles for loss (18) and was second in the league in sacks (8.5).

Will you attend UCF's first Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City?

The Big 12 Tournament got underway last night in Kansas City. It's a hot ticket - the arena should be packed for every game.

Since this will be UCF's first time in a big-time P5 hoops tourney, how likely are you to go?

I know conference tourneys are tough... multiple days during a work week, uncertainty whether your team will play more than one game, the difficulty of travel, etc.

Many of the legacy Big 12 members can still drive to KC... not so much if we're coming from Florida.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why y’all…

Why do y’all respond to Lobocane?

I blocked him ages ago. He would be gone if you didn’t reply to him. Almost all the replies I see to him are y’all complaining that he’s here….but you are the ones chatting with him.

What’s the old Obi Wan saying?
Who is more foolish? The fool or the fool who replies to him?

All I want for Christmas is for this to stop 🤣

UCF finishes November with a 4-2 record, the one glaring blemish being last Sunday's 85-82 loss to Stetson. UCF head coach Johnny Dawkins looks back on that game and what needs to improve heading into Saturday's home game vs. Lipscomb.

Jaylin Sellers has made quite the debut for UCF. After six games, he's averaging 22.2 points per game and just scored a career-high 34 points in his last effort. He's this week's Co-Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

Malachi Singleton transfer

I know the Whittemores. Big whittemore was my coach. What mom tweeted has been boiling over for 4 weeks now. Well really all season under Enos, but the singletons felt as if the change to guiton would help. Kenny had been in a similar circumstance as Malachi. They felt that Kenny would know how to use MS. That hasn’t happened.

Malachi also feels as if he made a mistake picking Arkansas. Now Gus really did make a massive push to get Malachi to flip. Promising him the world and future. Basically he was going to build the roster on Malachi and might have dumped JRP at a point/Wally pip JRP if the offense wasn’t working. But Gus was going hard for singleton. To the point he went to the collective and begged for money. Arky upped their offer in terms of playing time in the sec.

No one except Mama Singleton knew his decision. But he went to Arkansas because he got paaaiiid and his mom wanted him to be a man and honor his commitment. Heard UCF matched the $, but sec/false promises convinced Malachi to keep commitment.

Well Malachi feels lied to and he hates Arkansas. Feels as though Orlando is similar to Atlanta in terms of culture. Also if you haven’t seen mom’s tweets she name drops Gus and UCF MULTIPLE times. There’s a reason. Either Gus is going to Arky or Malachi is coming to UCF. No one knows for sure. Someone will throw out what HY said, but I can tell you he might be on the hot seat if Arky makes 0 changes outside of an oc. Heard names for oc are baaad as people view Pittman a lame duck.

So don’t be surprised if singleton enters portal.

Also watch for max brown from uf. Napier has treated him poorly and is basically going to risk his career on a freshman next year.

OT: OSU's Mike Gundy breaksdown their NIL Program

He was interviewed by fellow OSU Alum Doug Gottlieb today to talk about their season and Big 12 Champ Game appearance and soonnthe topic changed to NIL.

He mentioned all players, including walk-ons get about $1,200 wlas a base deal and then players work on their own behalf to get more $$ from the collective. Gundy also mentioned his pro-NIL stance.

Interview starts here at the 12:22 make (link should start right there)

Update on transfer Kamari Stephens, former UCF target

I have been wondering what became of Stephens and whether the former FAMU Rattler could have helped this UCF team. He ended up at Jacksonville State after unreconcilable differences at FAMU made his continued stay there untenable.

“Things just got very hard for me over the summer at FAMU," Stephens said. "I went to talk to [head coach Willie Simmons] and there was just nothing that could be done. So, I had to do what was best for me and ended up at Jacksonville State. I liked what they had to offer. It's a totally different culture from Tallahassee and I just felt like that's what I needed.”

He is listed at 6-3, 250 on the Jacksonville State roster.

He has played in 11 games, made 10 tackles, including 5.5 for losses, 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. His tackles alone would rank 24th on the team.

Needless to say, he would have been far more productive than Isaiah Paul.

Oklahoma State may not have a team by November

I know it's Message Board Geniuses, but the OSU community is in a dither over rumored comments Mike Gundy made about NIL... long story short, he hates it and hasn't embraced it, which is why a bunch of players transferred out during the offseason and why some think they could be an exodus after Saturday, which is the fourth game.

This was originally from a Reddit rumor but I think deleted:

According to sources, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy delivered a speech to a group of OSU staff and donors about his disapproval of NIL and the current state of college football.

In early August, Coach Gundy addressed a group of around 100 people, including the Pokes with a Purpose team, staff, and top donors of OSU. Sources say he spoke negatively about NIL, deeming it unimportant and expressing his disapproval of student-athletes receiving “A bunch of money.”

“I’ve been here for 40 years, and I can do what I want,” Gundy reportedly said, emphasizing that many of his staff disagreed with his stance on NIL.

Gundy also stressed the need for increased funding for facilities, deeming it the top priority compared to other resources, again underlining his tenure and decision-making role in the program.

Gundy’s speech and consistent opposition to NIL left top donors, PWAP staff, and the many administration members “disappointed.”

During the off-season, OSU experienced 16 transfers, 13 being starters or having significant playing time—the most prominent being Mason Cobb and Spencer Sanders. Sources indicate that one of the main reasons motivating Sanders and Cobb was the opportunity presented by NIL outside the program.

Sanders received disappointing offers, while Mason Cobb found a significant opportunity at USC. The Cowboys reportedly experienced a substantial increase in their NIL earnings over the past year, totaling over $3 million.

Gundy appears to have resisted the evolving landscape of college football. According to USA Today, the Cowboys had the smallest recruiting budget among public universities in the Power 5, amounting to approximately $450,000

Since their Fiesta Bowl victory, the Cowboys have posted a 9-7 record. Multiple sources close to NIL suggest that a significant part of this can be attributed to his perceived lack of effort in engaging with donors and advancing NIL initiatives within the program.

This comes shortly after former defensive coordinator Jim Knowles left the Cowboys for an opportunity at Ohio State. He is currently one of the highest-paid assistant coaches in college football.

Oklahoma State remains on rough ground after a rough loss to Sun Belt foe South Alabama, 33-7, on Saturday.
