UCF defensive tackle Anthony Montalvo will be among the seniors honored prior to this Saturday's home game against Navy.
Montalvo, wrapping up his sixth year, came to UCF as a walk-on and eventually developed into a key starter on defense.
Appearing at Monday's press conference, Montalvo said his two favorite career moments included earning his scholarship in 2019 and the win against South Florida in 2017.
"Mike Hughes taking it back, that's the best memory so far," Montalvo said.
Montalvo spoke extensively about defending Navy's triple-option offense and their offensive line's method of blocking low.
"You have to be disciplined with Navy," Montalvo said. "Technique will come in handy with how much they cut... The (offensive line) comes off low, ready to fight. The cut blocks are a challenging aspect. You never know when they're going to cut. They're always coming off low so it looks like they're cutting. They're driving you off the ball. We've got to play with our hands and distance ourselves between us and the o-linemen."
Montalvo also talked about the big win at Tulane and how much the players appreciated the support from Knight Nation in New Orleans.
"I was surprised (to see that many fans) as soon as we came out of the tunnel," he said. "A lot of players were excited to see how many fans there were. It put a smile on our face. We weren't expecting to have that."
Knowing they control their own destiny to host the AAC Championship Game, Montalvo said they're more focused than ever to "finish."
