Rivals.com Update from Ryan Wright & Justin Garcia:

MIAMI – Coming off a 2021 state championship, Cardinal Gibbons is looking good on their quest for another season ending trophy for the case. The Chiefs are 3-0 led by 2023 UCF QB commit Dylan Rizk with impressive wins over DeMatha, Calvary Christian, and Gulliver Prep. Other D-I teams may be in need of a top-shelf quarterback, but Rizk is locked in with the Knights.

Since his April 21 commitment, the relationship continues to grow with UCF’s staff.

“It is going really well,” Rizk stated. “I talk to coach Chip (Lindsey – OC) almost every week and their recruiting coordinator every week.”

Helping the bond grow, Rizk has two game-day visits coming up in Orlando.

“I’m going up there again soon for the SMU game Oct. 1 and for the Cincinnati game on Oct. 29,” Rizk said. “I’m ready for those.”

Asked what he wants to see and experience during the visits, Rizk had an emphatic reply, “As you know, UCF is snapping right now. You already know what to expect, they are going to kick everyone’s ass. I’m excited to watch them.”

Teams interested in flipping him may be calling, but Rizk isn’t answering.

“I am locked in with UCF,” Rizk stated. “I don’t really give anyone else any attention, that’s just how I am. I’m not interested. I’m with UCF all the way. I’m 100 percent locked in forever.”

Mikey Keene rose to the occasion.

Called into action after John Rhys Plumlee suffered a concussion late in the first half, UCF's backup quarterback - who hadn't played since last year's bowl win against Florida - displayed tremendous poise under pressure. Keene was effective moving the offense down the field and made big plays in the game-winning drive that was capped off by R.J. Harvey's touchdown run.

UCF offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey talks about Keene's performance as well as the offense as a whole.

The Real Issue No One Is Talking About With #SignalGate

Gus. Why aren’t we talking about his recklessness of emotions towards a kid who doesn’t know any better and firing someone in the middle of the game?

That’s the real liability here. He should be mature enough to handle this better. This is not an excuse for the GA. It’s a bullshit move and we need to take action to set an example.

But Gus, c’mon man!

UCF defensive coordinator Travis Williams challenged his team to have a physical mindset to stop the run against Cincinnati and they delivered, limiting the Bearcats to just 35 yards on the ground. Williams also spoke of the big games from DT Ricky Barber and DE Josh Celiscar and the incredible stadium atmosphere.

Remember when Pat Forde & Ross Dellenger crapped all over Brett Yormark?

Pat Forde story on his Yormark's hire as Big 12 commissioner. Granted, these are "anonymous" quotes yet Forde and his partner Ross Dellenger really leaned into the initial Yormark smear for some reason.

Forde story:

Regardless, the Big 12 created an even greater ripple of surprise by hiring Yormark than either the Pac-12 or Big Ten did with their moves. Multiple sources described consternation at the National Association of College Directors of Athletics meetings in Las Vegas Monday, as administrators wore out Google on their phones to try to figure out who this new hire is.

“What’s his name again?” one Big 12 athletic director asked Sports Illustrated. “Does he know anything about our business?”

“I’m not familiar with that name,” another Big 12 AD said, after a pause. “I guess we’ll put on good concerts? Just because you don’t know someone doesn’t mean they won’t be a good choice. But this isn’t a time for a lot of on-the-job training.”

Outside the league, reaction arrived in waves of cynicism.

“I would like to be optimistic but this is a disaster in the making,” says one prominent administrator.

Ross Dellenger also took shots at the hire in a Finebaum interview, describing him as a "New York City salesman" and whether he'll be a "fit" in places like Dallas and Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Fans leaving after Bowser touchdown

I’m looking for an explanation for why fans started leaving after Bowser’s fourth quarter touchdown.

There was still four minutes left in the game. The game was obviously far from being over.

I saw fans leaving from my section, Stadium club, students, east side. It may have been 5-10 percent max, but I cannot figure out the reasoning. It was a 3:30 game on Saturday, it’s not like they had kids going to school the next day.

Not huge fans ( single game ticket holders )? Trying to get out of garage D before midnight?

No audio for like 2-3 minutes between 3rd and 4th quarters

Didn't this happen in another game? So the third quarter ends and it's dead silent, nothing from the audio system... they were running something on the video board showing Instagram posts. Meanwhile, with zero music or anything from the Marching Knights, the Cincinnati fans start chanting, "Let's Go Bearcats!"

Finally, the "Rise a Knight" video comes on but I think that's only like 30 seconds.

That couldn't be by design?

Is JRP ok

Seriously not a shitpost. That was a nasty hit and seeing him wearing falter then wearing sunglasses on the sideline was scary.

what is protocol in a situation like that? I’m sure they checked him out but what does the next week of medical stuff look like?

I saw the video of him in the locker room and he seems ok…. Just praying nothing lingering there- hard to watch these kids take shots like that

This is probably my favorite new UCF tradition... it has really caught on.

Fans are always more enthusiastic with sing-along stuff when the weather isn't blazing hot or humid (like last night) AND the team is doing well on the field. This was played at the perfect time during the fourth quarter.
