An Actual Nothing Burger ...

I had an Essential Ph-1 as well, liked it, great for using as a desktop with excellent USB-C DisplayPort and KB/Mouse support, but it had many issues. We'll see what happens with the Nothing Phone.

I'm on a cheap ($399 list, I bought it for $270 US Retail in 2021 Spring) Moto One 5G Ace (SD 750G, 6GiB RAM, 128GB Storage + MicroSD, NFC and other features) right now ... which finally got Android 11 only 15 months too late (originally released 2021 January with old Android 10). Allegedly Android 12 is coming within 3 months, and Verizon's version already has it (I buy US Retail unlocked), but I'm not hopeful. But I didn't even pay $270 for it, unliked, US Retail.

Cawthorn on DC

Not a shocker. But I spent over 5 years working in DC. It's the most anti-PC, most racist/sexist city, I've every been in ... even below those Elites. They make fun of boyscouts like myself, and think we're 'weird.' Why? Because there's no 'leverage' to get over people like me.

2022 Gonna Be a Big Year?

I definitely believe we need to produce this season with the roster we have. We're going to have some big games but most of them are at home. The running game for this team is going to be big and the DL for this team is going to produce havoc this season despite Big Kat going bye, bye to Cowgirls. The DBs are going to be better and the LBs will be good enough.

Nobody is talking about our receivers but I know our receivers are very talented.

Why do we need to produce big? Because it's going to take 2-3 years to be back in a position like this year in the Big 12.

I don't think fans want to wait that long and Gus has a few tricks up his sleeve for this season. Look at what he got the team to do last season with all the injuries and less depth than he has now with this year's roster.

UCF Basketball scheduling scoop from Johnny Dawkins - Big 12 game? Big-time series beginning? 🏀

At the Oviedo ChargeOn Tour, I asked Johnny Dawkins about non-conference scheduling for this upcoming season.

He confirmed FSU is returning the game at UCF. He also repeated that a home-and-home with Ole Miss begins this year with the first game on the road. Also said UCF is participating in the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise vs. TBD.

He also dropped a couple nuggets we hadn't heard previously:

UCF will complete in the "Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship" in Nassau Nov. 18-20. It's a four-team field (so everybody plays each other). Dawkins said DePaul and Oklahoma State are among the other teams and a fourth team is TBD. Last year was the first year for this particular tournament. The Battle 4 Atlantis has been the big-name Bahamas tournament that has been in existence for about 10 years now.

Dawkins also said they're on the verge of signing a home-and-home series with a Power Five team that would begin this season in Orlando.

"I think it'll be really good and our fans will be excited," Dawkins said about this series.

The full Dawkins interview will be posted soon.

UCF/NFL Doubleheader Weekend Possibilities Once We're in the Big 12

I am pretty excited to have a Dallas hub and Houston proximity of teams to travel to in the Big 12 as flights will be fairly reasonable (I hope :( )

With two NFL Teams in the cowboys and the Texans, the odds of you being able to see the Knights on Saturday and the Jags once a year in H-Town along with the NFC Beasts in Jerry World on Sundays is very likely.

Dallas will be a black and gold town soon enough.

Exciting because friends/alum from the country can fly in to the middle of the country fairly easily.

***UCF LB commit Troy Ford Jr. can't wait to be a Knight 🏈

Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day linebacker Troy Ford Jr. would love to be officially reporting to UCF this month instead of having to wait another year.

"If I could, I would move in right now," Ford said. "No question about it."

Ford was the second player to commit to UCF in the 2023 class, announcing his decision in March. He's visited many times already, including for a game last season, Hometown Hero and also spring practice.

On this visit, he spent a lot of time with senior linebacker Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste who was his player host.

"I'll be playing that exact position (Jeremiah plays)," Ford said. "I met him in spring practice and we talked a little bit then. We've been talking on the phone. I had a great time hanging out with him."

Ford already has a deep connection with the coaching staff.

"It's always like that here," Ford said. "Coach (William) Lee and Coach T-Will (Travis Williams), it's always great conversations with me and my family. I can't even explain. It's like we're a family already."

It was also good to let loose and have fun, which they did on Saturday.

"We played dodgeball, had some eating contests with some watermelon and pie," Ford said. "Watching everybody laugh and have a good time competing, that was probably the best part."

Ford was also doing a bit of recruiting with the handful of uncommitted visitors.

"I was having conversations with them, like are you thinking about committing soon?" Ford said. "I know some are still taking OVs. 'You know where home is, come and join.' Trying to pep talk and show them the vibe."

While he wasn't here this weekend, Terry Simmons, his defensive tackle teammate at Calvary Day, recently announced a final three of UCF, Georgia Tech and Duke. He will visit UCF June 17 and plans to announce a decision the following week.

"I talk to him every day about it," Ford said. "You know where to go. When he dropped (his finalists), I told UCF fans to blow up his timeline. I looked and there were hundreds of people telling him to come. I'm excited about it."

OT: Fake Clay Klay Thompson

Banned for life from the Warriors arena. I would have to think all professional sports teams are reviewing their security practices these next few weeks.

“Banned bc I walked pass 5 layers of security guards (who willingly let me through security without asking for ID) & shot around on the court for 10 minutes. I also spent 10K on tickets which they are not refunding,” Gurley said in a tweet. “Why should I be banned because their security is incompetent?”
