NCAA task force recommends removing minimum standardized test scores in effort to advance racial equity

NCAA task force recommends removing minimum standardized test scores in effort to advance racial equity

An NCAA task force recommended on Friday that incoming freshmen in Division I and II sports should no longer be required to meet minimum scores on standardized tests for initial eligibility.

The recommendation was made by the NCAA Standardized Test Score Task Force, which was formed as part of the NCAA's eight-point plan to advance racial equity. The Division I Committee on Academics and Division II Academic Requirements Committee will consider the recommendation at their next scheduled meetings in February. Changes to initial-eligibility requirements would also have to be reviewed and made through each division's legislative process.

"This work reflects the NCAA's commitment to continually reviewing our academic standards based on the best available data and other relevant information," task force chairman David Wilson, president at Morgan State, said in an NCAA release. "We are observing a national trend in NCAA member schools moving away from requiring standardized test scores for admissions purposes and this recommendation for athletics eligibility aligns directly with that movement."

In the release, the NCAA said the task force consulted with several groups, including the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, the National Association for College Admission Counseling, and Division I and II member schools, as well as the testing agencies, specifically the ACT and College Board, which administers the SAT.

In July 2020, the National Association of Basketball Coaches called for the NCAA to permanently eliminate standardized test scores from eligibility requirements.

"The days of colleges requiring the SAT or ACT are passing rapidly: more than half of all four-year colleges and universities will not require these tests for admissions in 2021, and more are dropping the requirement every week," the NABC said in a statement at the time. "These tests should no longer be required in the initial-eligibility standards. The tests are again being recognized as forces of institutional racism, which is consistent with their history, and they should be jettisoned for that reason alone; moreover, pragmatics also support this change."...

Bortles Interview

Question, was looking to try and connect with Blake and see if we could have him on our show here in Denver to discuss his time with Nathaniel Hackett in Jax/GB and if that means he could see a return for him to Denver. I had his old number but no new contact info. Anyone on here have a direct line to him and can reach out to see if he would be interested? Ive interviewed him in the past and he's great! Thanks in advance...
Feel free to DM me with any insight.

What classifies A Super Fan?

I didn’t want to muck up another thread and I certainly don’t want this to be a negative thread about anybody.

I have seen the term Super Fan used and I’m just curious as to what makes somebody a super fan.

There are people like Knight Fan Stan and the guy that wears the Star Wars inspired outfits. Are they considered super fans?

Who else do we have that are super fans?

Meatless Burgers Are Like mRNA Vaccines...

McDonald's is expanding its crap-infested, over-processed 'Beyond Meat' based McPlant.

People blindly think they are better for you than beef, and assume they are a healthy choice. No, that's marketing and mob proliferation, but anyone saying otherwise is considered a fool, despite looking at the nutritional facts and actually reading experts.

You'd be far better off having a fresh ground and grilled burger than either of these by far. They also suck still up a lot of energy and processing for the additives and ingredients. Forget the details!

Content provided from Rivals' @Ryan Wright:

College coaches from all over the country are making a fast track to Tampa’s Carrollwood Day to meet 2024 defensive back Tavoy Feagin. The four-star was of interest to college coaches back in November holding 11 offers but is now one of the most highly recruited in his class holding 30-plus offers. As next level scouts head to Florida to drop those offers, Feagin is set to visit nearby UCF this weekend.

Since Jan. 18, Feagin’s recruiting has pushed to that next level with offers coming in from Kentucky, FAU, Texas, USC, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Georgia, Temple, Vanderbilt, and LSU. Many of those same programs have made the effort for an in-person Carrollwood Day meeting: Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Michigan State and Cincinnati.

Being recruited as both a corner and a safety, Feagin is ready to get out on the recruiting trail seeing campuses and learning more about various programs’ plan for him if on their roster.

Feagin shared his potential stops, “I might take a visit to South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Georgia Tech, I have UCF this weekend, and hopefully I will get to visit USC.”

Taking the short trip down I-4, Feagin shared his draw in the Knights’ program.

“I am really interested in UCF,” Feagin said. “Their coaching staff came over last week, they want me to come over this weekend even though I am not a junior.”

Fans will get to see Feagin in action this offseason playing 7v7 ball for Deion Sanders' team.

Former UCF OL Aaron Evans selling this posters/t-shirts from UCF's Bowl Win

Didn't realize at first he was selling this poster but seeing how over 258 of them have been bought, figured others might like to order one too.

Where Does the Florida Win Rate on the All Time Win List

I have heard this mentioned in passing that this may be one of our biggest wins in program history. Here is my list in reverse Chronological order. I probably have the Florida game lower than some (no better than #13), but being a pre-Christmas lower tier bowl I don't think of it as a program defining win.

2018 Conference Championship game (great comeback, they were destroying us)
2017 Peach Bowl (National Champions)
2017 Conference Championship game (overtime nail biter)
2017 USF thriller (one of the Top 10 games of the year on everybody's list at the time)
2014 Fiesta Bowl (our first B12 Championship...LOL)
2013 at Penn St (against 100,000 fans)
2013 at Louisville (can still see that red head girl's face in agony)
2010 Georgia in Liberty Bowl
2007 First Conference Championship game win
2000 at Alabama
1988 Noise game vs Troy St (set an attendance record that stood for years)
1987 First playoff win against IUP (still think Ford ran out of bounds)

2021 Against Florida (wore them out in the trenches)

No one surpasses Fantatics on Quality Garbage

For those who I find it quite amazing this company still exists....and what's more intriguing is why people continue to spend $20+ a shirt when this is what you get....

Collar Quality After 5 washes

https://postimg.cc/LJ9Zb1cw

Pics don't do these shirts justice....it's like wearing tissue paper and faded instantly. I've ordered 4 shirts from them and it's all the same.

Be sure to take annual advantage of the UCF premium/Fanatics offer when the time comes in 2022.

You won't regret it.
