Houston contract with Big12 shines light on UCF's deal

Looks like the 4 new Big12 members would not fully participate in revenue distributions until the new GOR. Meaning if UT and OU leave early, even if we are in the Big12, we aren't seeing that money in our pockets. It would get shared amongst the Leftover8.

OT: Roofclaim sues the Jags because they suck

LOL

Roofclaim is suing because they signed a $2.4M sponsorship of the Jags and now don’t want their brand associated with the team.

Ryan O’Keefe #4

This young man has made it into my top 5 list of all-time favorite UCF players and he isn’t even done yet! Just love watching him play and appreciate his character. Seems to possess strong leadership qualities and great charisma. The adoption story and his family love is just icing on the cake.
Flashing the deuce on his TD catch will always be an iconic moment in my memory bank and I actually got choked up watching that tribute happen in Tampa. Finding out that it was the exact same yardage as Otis’ famous catch gave me chills!
#4 will now be forever linked with #2… God rest his soul. (maybe someone can post that split screen image of them?)
IMO, Ryan is the main reason UCF had such a successful season in spite of all the seemingly insurmountable obstacles thrown their way. Hope he stays healthy and can’t wait to watch him light it up again next year.

***Kaven Call gives gift of Christmas commitment to UCF***

Following UCF's win against Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl, head coach Gus Malzahn said recruiting was about to take off. It didn't take long.

Kaven Call, a four-star defensive end from Apopka, announced his commitment to the Knights on Christmas Day to become the first pledge in UCF's 2023 class.

Playing for one of Florida's powerhouse high school programs, Call helped the Blue Darters advance to this year's 8A Championship Game. He recently announced a top six that included UCF, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Penn State and Rutgers.

"That’s my hometown, they are about 30 minutes away," Call recently told Rivals. "My sister goes there, it would be cool to go there to be close to her and my family. It is right there, that really is what it is. And with coach Gus being there turning it up. They are going into the Big 12, I think they will be in the Big 12 by the time I get there. Everything is really changing for them and that is really big for UCF."

Shortly after Malzahn's arrival in Orlando last February, Call was identified as a high-priority target for 2023. He was among the exclusive group of recruits invited to attend Bounce House Weekend last June.

"I love the coaching staff," Call said at the time. "Coach Gus is great. He knows how to run a big-time program. He knows what it takes to win National Championships. He's been at the top of the stage, knows what it feels like. He knows what it takes to get there. UCF is the hometown. My sister is going there. That's a pretty cool thing. It's the hometown team."

Malzahn and his staff have made a concentrated effort to recruit the Central Florida area. In the 2022 class, UCF signed Call's teammate and friend, Nikai Martinez, as well as the highly-regarded trio from Seminole, Demari Henderson, Ja'Cari Henderson and Kam Moore.

Players are in the transfer portal. More players than an entire conference ..There are enough players to field 67 football teams. source, my son showed me a Facebook page meme.

Let's say that's true for a moment. What's happens to all those kids when the music stops here ? Do they go back to their teams or are those bridges burned? This season the portal seems like a risk for all but the really good players .

***Transfer Visits and the NCAA Dead Period***

The primary NCAA Dead Period remains in effect through January 13, but thanks to an NCAA bylaw and UCF having an earlier second semester start date (Jan. 10), UCF can host visits for midyear enrollees beginning tomorrow, Jan. 4 (seven days prior to the start of classes).

So anybody eligible to be a midyear transfer (portal guys or JUCO), can visit UCF officially or unofficially beginning tomorrow.

For schools with later start dates - for instance, University of Miami doesn't have their first day of classes until Jan. 18 - their "visit clock" is delayed a few more days. They can't host transfer visitors until Jan. 11.
