Chris Pezman has been relieved of his duties at the University of Houston, the school announced.

Pezman had two more years on his contract that was scheduled to run through Jan. 31, 2026.

Chris Pezman has ushered our athletics program through a period of incredible transformation, and we are grateful for his leadership over the past six years,” UH President Renu Khator said in a statement. “He has been a pivotal part of our entry into the Big 12 Conference and championed the success of student athletes on the field and in the classroom. This was a difficult but necessary decision as we navigate a paradigm shift in collegiate athletics. I want to thank Chris for his dedication to UH and to our student athletes. On behalf of the University, I wish Chris and his family the very best.”

WOT GoFundMe Help - Best Friend's Wife Dying

Long story short, my best friend's wife has been fighting cancer for years, but it has recently gotten significantly worse. She now has cancer in her brain (meninges) and may have only a few months to live. I want to help them in any way I can and I thought I'd set up a gofundme (or similar) to help cover their medical and other expenses. Hopefully, it will be enough so that they can focus on spending time together as a family (they have two young kids) rather than worry about bills.

Since they are both UCF grads, I thought I'd reach out to my fellow Knights to see if anyone could point me in the right direction. Is GoFundMe a good way to go? Do I need to set up a bank account for the funds, use my own account, or use their account? I want everything to be on the up and up and I want to be smart when it comes to their taxes. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Group of Five playoff in the works?

Dennis Dodd:

Former Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley is pitching a Group of Five playoff that would be financially backed by private equity, sources tell CBS Sports.

The concept would address -- if not be motivated by -- disappointment felt by the Group of Five conferences (MAC, Mountain West, Sun Belt, American and Conference USA) over revenue distribution shares under the new College Football Playoff media rights agreement. The average program in those conferences will receive $1.8 million per year in CFP revenue beginning in 2026 under the new deal, up from the current $1.5 million payout.

...

While Dooley's idea is in the development stages, sources stressed that financial involvement would be more than just funding a playoff. In one iteration of the proposal, as described to CBS Sports, eight division champions would play at the end of the regular season for the Group of Five's guaranteed CFP berth. "Significant dollars" would be at stake, according to one source with knowledge of the pitch.

Such an arrangement would require the 62 teams contained in the Group of Five conferences realigning into eight-team divisions.

WOT: Getting Older

I’ve debated posting this thread for a couple weeks, but I need some sage wisdom (and some funny asshole jokes are ok too)

I turned 40 in September last year and I didn’t have a care in the world. My girlfriend and I had just closed on a new house we built. Our blended family couldn’t be happier. Life was great.

Life is still great, but the last couple months some thoughts have started to creep in a little more than I’d like. Thoughts about getting older, and eventually not being here anymore one day.

Now, I know I’m not old by any stretch of the imagination, and even though it’s been a couple years since I’ve gotten an annual check up, I have zero reason to believe anything is wrong with me.

I don’t really know what I’m looking for from you guys, but I guess I’m just wondering how you guys handle getting older and the things that come with it. Does it get easier? Has anyone else gone thru similar. Is this just a midlife crisis?

Regardless of how this thread goes, I just want you all to know I appreciate you, and this outlet we have to bond and argue together.

Charge On

***UCF Baseball Transfer Portal & Recruiting Thread ⚾

Portal opened up last Monday and it will be open for another 35 days. It will be interesting to follow on what players Wallace targets and or if some other P4 top teams target any of our guys.

We saw what NIL $$ can do last year when FSU came to our town to "shop" but I think with a successful season underwraps after Year 1 with Wallace in the Big 12...more suitors will be calling him this year to join us for the upcoming season or two.

Note: UCF hired Wallace last year on June 12th...and he took over a program that just finished another poor season in the AAC with only 3 NCAA Regional Appearances over the last 18 years.

He should be on much stronger ground this summer in targeting portal players.
