8th seed UCF hopes to make some noise in Dallas

It’s that time of year in the College Baseball world. Conference tournaments around the nation, bidding for spots in regionals and hoping to keep their seasons going on as far into June as they can.

The Knights are among that number, having officially qualified for the Big 12 tournament during their second-to-last conference series against the Texas Longhorns.

The final week of the regular season included a rainout, a double-header, and a ferocious near comeback that had to be fended off. Let’s see how the initial schedule wrapped up for the Knights.

On the College Gameday Podcast, Pete Thamel stated that he would take the under if Colorado's projected total was set at 5.5 wins for the Buffaloes.

"Looking now, I would take the under on 5.5," Thamel said.

She’s running in the upcoming special election to replace suspended commissioner Regina Hill. There are at least five other candidates.

For those of you unfamiliar with "mugshawtys", it's an IG page (not sure if it's also on other platforms) where they post mugshots, etc. of attractive females. This one was posted a few minutes ago and the back of the female officer's uniform says "UCF Police". The caption states that the student being arrested allegedly stole a maintenance golf cart while drunk and took it to get tacos.

Some highlights from the interview:

Dom was clearly wowed by Globe Life Park.

Rich seemed to criticize Baylor's decision to call a DH, he said the weather cleared up and they could have played at 8 p.m. Thursday. He said Friday was the hottest doubleheader he's ever been a part of. Their dugout was in nonstop sun for 7 hours. Sort of makes sense in retrospect when you look at the performance in the second game.

Rich said the multiple decks of seats and the roof will be a unique challenge for catching pop flies. They tried to get acclimated today.

Cincinnati's starter is Nathan Taylor, the true freshman who pitched in the Saturday game at UCF. He pitched into the 7th inning in that game and allowed two runs.

Right now, Vespi would pitch the second game.

This is great news as UCF will host 10 conf hoop games next year meaning there will be 5 teams UCF won't host in this upcoming season.

Also...probably moves up the start of the season to right after Christmas meaning UCF could host a conf game or two BEFORE students come back from break...which would suck as students help create a real home court advantage.

The UCF Knights baseball team is preparing to make their first ever appearance in the Big 12 Conference baseball tournament as the overall 8th seed. Head Coach Rich Wallace knows his team will have to be consistent and eliminate mistakes if they want to make a run to the title. Coach Wallace and pitcher Dom Stagliano met with the media virtually to preview the week ahead.
