2022 depth chart

I too think this is going to be a huge year for Morris-Brash. I am leaning more toward the DL looking like this:
DE: Celiscar
DT: Barber
DT: Hunter
Buck: Morris-Brash
I like the idea of moving #33 around like we did Big Cat and let him attack. He makes plays!!
K.D. McDaniel as the top reserve as Buck or OLB.

First, got to keep these guys focused and hungry. Goode and Barber should be the starting DT's going into spring...Cam had a strong finish last year and is primed to have a great year in '22....Hunter, Montalvo, Hester and maybe a younger guy should play some as well...it's a deep, talented group at DT. And DE is not far behind.

Speaking of DE, I looked up Randy Charlton. Looks like he’s at Miss St with one more year. Had high hopes for him 4 years ago

Yeah you would like to have 8 guys on the DL ready to go for depth. This sure hurts, wonder if he wants to be closer to home for his last year (He is from Maryland).

I’ll take a shot at it with how we look right now.

Damn..this one sucks, big loss. I like him a lot, always seemed to give 100% every play and a good teammate. That Lee Hunter addition must have upset him, hopefully Hunter comes in with same effort. Good luck to him.
Players just want to play. He possibly was going to end up out of the starting lineup, and coming in off the bench. I am disappointed he did not wait to see how spring camp played out. I wish him well.

Lots of Seniors get beat out by talented underclassmen.
But to leave without even attending a camp. If he actually did leave specifically because of a transfer then there is way more going on in regards to what players are being told about position battles.

Summary of Transfers In/Out

I wish the 2 RBs that have ? for destination could return.
Great summary, thanks for the link.

Wish there was a net +/- score or A-F Letter Grade (like the NFL draft) to summarize if UCF is better or worse as a result of the transfer portal.

yeah but you don't run away because of what some freshman is doing in offseason conditioning. no self-respecting senior would do that. cam is way better than that. he got in his feelings about something else and is leaving. btw, i wouldn't put too much expectations on hunter. these high 4 star/5 star kids that leave after their freshman year aren't a sure thing. we got a tall 5 star freshman receiver from notre dame last summer and he didn't do a damn thing.

Can't expect them to immediately beat out more senior guys but it's possible and I fully expect both those guys to be great for us in the next year or two.

I think he is pointing to a lot of players that came from major programs with a lot of stars tied to their recruiting profile that left their previous school after a year or two and end up barely ever having an impact here. They get hyped for being recruited at XYZ school, but then never actually doing anything.

I’m not saying that’s what happened, just one thing that probably didn’t help. Just another guy that’s hyped up and potentially putting him behind in the depth chart. Otherwise, he seemed to love it at UCF and always repped. Nothing else really changed, so wanting to start is only thing I could think of. Who really knows anymore anyways…

Pretty good, but interested to know why you would put Barber and Wilson in the reserves? Barber is our best DT and is definitely starting. Same with Divaad Wilson, no way he’s not a starter, he was 2nd team AAC and started all year, played mostly well with a few lapses while learning the safety position.

You don’t list Harvey at all at RB. He was projected to be the starter last year before he got hurt

Barber and Hester are both very good DTs. I could go with either of the two of them. I agree that I may be mistaken about Barber. I was just trying to remember which of them was starting at the end of last season and I thought, maybe mistakenly, that Hester had begun starting as he was on the field often by season's end.

Wilson suffered way too many tackling issues, some that were very costly in terms of yards and first downs. Also, his coverage from the safety spot was only fair. I think this is why we went out and got another safety known for aggressive tackling without sacrificing on coverage. We will see but it seems Perry may have been brought in to enhance the SS position mostly by improved tackling.

You are right about Wilson starting last year. However, 1) Perry was not here then; 2.) we got Perry for a (to be determined) reason. Admittedly, I could be wrong on this one. Maybe I'm reading too much into Perry's acquisition. Either way, I do agree that Wilson still plays a ton of snaps. I actually wonder if he is moved back to a nickel position, which is what he was playing at Ga., and shares snaps there with Hodges. I think Wilson was only moved to SS due to need caused by severe tackling issues at SS in 2020. Now that we have Perry, I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson moves back to nickel responsibility.

In a nutshell, there could be lots of moving parts with our secondary this season. That is actually a good thing as it is because of our strong depth there.

I thought of that but I'm not sure of if his injury will still limit him even in the Fall. Also, Bowser (as starter), and Johnny & MAR had great years while Harvey was out. Sometimes when a guy gets hurt things change dramatically while he is out. I think that may be the case here and he may have to gradually work his way back up the depth chart. My take provided is a Game 1 depth chart. I do agree that as the season continues Harvey probably earns some touches. I just have no prediction as to when or how many.

Haha the camera angle on the second one is deceptive but yeah he’s a big human.

and I hope Lewis is taking things easy in his recovery. How long since he tore his knee?
I heard he injured it in High School and was only found out when he got to Maryland. Pretty sure his surgery at Maryland was over 1 year ago.

I must admit that even though Ja’Cari was the #1 player in Orlando area last year I never watched his film until now.
I know the secondary will probably be deep this season but this kid is going to be a factor one way or another. Even if it’s on special teams.

I don't see Hudson beating out Jaylon for staying wr spot

Kobi Hudson is a split end (X). Ryan O'Keefe is the slot receiver (W). Jaylon Robinson is a flanker (Z).

Amari Johnson enters the spring as the starting flanker, but will likely exit as a reserve. I do not see Jordan Johnson or Dionte Marks unseating Hudson at the X.

Agree with all of this with the exception of 1) Sam Jackson playing backup. Why not have Grable at guard and have both Swoboda and Jackson on the ends? I read somewhere Grable can also play guard

and 2) Jaylon playing behind Amari. Jaylon has way to much in game experience to keep him sidelined

I think you guys are getting close...I think just one change for Spring Game...JRP will be the QB starter...and by Fall we'll add another Buck and a LB and both will see a lot of playing time come the season opener.

Still think Sam Jackson will wind up at LG. He is projected to be a G in the NFL and I think he plays there to get it down 100%. Will probably see him groomed to be the backup C in the spring also. The more versatile he can be the more valuable he will be at the next level.

Agree with thus. Just we need more offensive lineman. We need to recruit 4 more. Next year we are losing our best lineman. We need young blood to come in. And maybe 1 or 2 more through Portal.
