how are the coaches still confused by the 3-3-5 defense? I don’t get it

Because JH made other plans in August.
The only explanation is the coaches know the 3-3-5 is coming but the Oline sucks so badly that they can’t consistently pass block three guys AND run block well enough for the guards to get a nose on the linebackers.

Well no teams play it accept against us so we don’t see it on film. Why would we practice for something that probably won’t happen?!?
Pass blocking I can understand the confusion about who’s coming and who gets which man and stuff. But the run blocking being atrocious in the 2nd half is worse. You should be able to get to the 2nd level pretty easily against that defensive formation with Tulsa’s personnel.
Tulsa defense performed all-World against us. Hell they beat us with a backup QB. Sure we shot ourselves in the foot...
we can cross off crowd noise being an issue. Never heard Tulsa get crazy loud. @Knight Strength how many people were there?
I'm not a good judge of crowd size but I would guess a couple thousand. The first number in my mind was 1000-2000 people. 5000 at the most.
I bet Charlie Strong is already practicing with this formation for us

Yep. I fear this game will be much closer than we want. If there is one unit of USF playing decent football it’s their defense. He’ll have them ready for us.
Definitely not 5000. Maybe 2000-2500, but noise was not an issue, other than the band playing at illegal times, which they received a warning for from the ref(how many games into the season?)
