"Big12 Talkin to 4 Corners"

I think playing WVU, Cincy and Houston every year without playing anyone within 1,500 miles of us is going to get a bit stale for the fanbase.

I hear ya'll about USF. But if not USF, at least sign a yearly game with FAU or someone. Or hope UM or Georgia Tech or someone leaves the ACC.

Eventually the Big 12 will hopefully start considering expanding eastward.
Was it stale when Miami was on an island in the Big East winning all of those titles?

Money is fine, but people annoyed at UCF teams spending a fair share amount of time on the other side of the country playing games on west coast time slots is going to get old fast.
Would you rather play USF and FAU all the time? We might have divisions by than and only play maybe 1-2 teams "far" west a season (I'm purely talking football which drives all this). Much like the AAC and its scheduling. Our main teams will be WVU, Cincy, Houston. Personally IDK who will be annoyed playing Utah, Arizona, or Colorado. Those are epic destinations to travel too as well. Much better than Greenville NC or Tulsa Oklahoma. Ya I understand the time but it's not every weekend.

We should be 100000% greatful that we made the jump to the big12. We are already in a better situation than most pac12 and Acc teams.
Agree, as for the travel, and fans it is a bunch of hoooie, Outside of USF fans are flying to see UCF play anyways. 95% of us watch those games on TV, and will enjoy the big time games vs what we have now.

I think we are selling ourselves short to go after all 4. We just need 2. Colorado and an Arizona school.
Arizona and Colorado are the primary targets. The CU regents are having a 'special' meeting today. Two points on the agenda. One is the PAC 12 situation, and there is speculation that they will receive the media package this week. The other is listed as a legal issue. The legal issue could be the wording of the GOR - this is speculation. If the numbers are close, and the GOR truly binds Oregon and Washington, the game is over. If the numbers are weak, and/or if Oregon and Washington can hit the ejection button at anytime with little penalty...game on. Yormark is hyper aggressive. He wants solid FB schools, and the most powerful college basketball conference. Imagine who could potentially be left after the ACC is picked apart.

And Boulder Colorado is an epic place to visit. Awesome area plus Denver is a great city.

I doubt they could stay out West for an entire week, but a few days to reduce travel is definitely doable.

Virtual classes for undergrads are abundant these days.

Northern baseball teams basically play a month straight in Florida or California to start the season. Don't think they fly back and forth, especially since they play midweek games too.

A bunch of northern schools have home games tonight. Even Minnesota and Iowa. Louisville is close to Cincinatti and they have a home game. I think Nebraska too. Even if they go on road , they don’t have to go to Florida or California. The Carolinas and Virginia and Mississippi are all hosting. It’s not on road for the first 4 weeks. They aren’t constantly missing classes from what I can tell.

UConn first 18 games were either in Florida, California, or Hawaii. They had one game at home during that stretch but it was postponed.

Man I hope this shit goes down....a few years later, go east and pick up (I can't believe I'm about to say this) USF and Memphis, or pick off a few disgruntled ACC teams.

There are at least 4 teams in front USF, fiscal-wise. Memphis is one of them, but Memphis is half of Houston, who is half of UCF.

Unless something in the new Big XII contract changes, there will be no invite going to Memphis, usf, or any other G5. If the conference brings in a G5, all of the current members have to give up some of their $ to pay for the G5. If the conference expands with a team(s) that are currently in a P5 conference, ESPN/Fox pick up the cost. It’s specifically stated in the contract that they will not increase the pay to the conference if they bring in any more G5s. Memphis and others better hope one of the other P5s find them worthy because no one in the Big XII is giving up their $.

I feel bad for schools like Boise and Memphis. They deserve to be in the power 5, maybe not a popular take, but they are solid programs, way much more so than schools like Wake, BC, Oregon St and Wash St. Given the financial backing of a P5 conference and the ability to recruit under that same banner, Boise in the Pac and Memphis in the Big 12 would have been better than Cal, Wash St/ Kansas and Iowa State (up till the Matt Campbell era). Boise and Memphis likely would have been able to keep their coaches and staffs. To me it doesn't seem right to leave out a couple of the top G5 schools. Truly glad we aren't in that situation. Thank you John Hitt for making football and athletics a priority.

Boise has the fan support.
Memphis ... ugh, they've always had issues.

I guess a run of a few, quite a few, good years makes everyone forget Memphis (football) was an easy win in C-USA, a 40 year history of mostly mediocre teams. It's just 9 years of them being one of the best in the AAC. I agree, they got screwed because they'd be better than many P5, but they don't have the decades of bias that P5s have, that get $$$$ from contracts, that solely need to be a Name, not actually be any good. It's about time people realize that most NCAA football 'fans' don't care about football, they care about Name Brands. They always say, yes, was a great team in 1914 and could get back to being one. Perception, not reality.

I don’t care about Memphis football being good just lately. But their basketball team has as well. They deserve to be in B12 also.

And that money couldn't even get Memphis past the 1st round the year the Big XII pretended to expand. FedEx apparently doesn't matter. Again, you can name probably 70% of the P5 teams that either Memphis team could beat, but it's perception not reality. It doesn't matter.
