Coaching staff speculations?

At this point I’d be shocked if it was Chinander. I think he’s a great hire.

My guess is he is bringing several coaches on the Boise staff with him.

I am going to send this to FootballScoop for Frost.

Central Florida (FBS - FL): Central Florida University is currently accepting applications for the Defensive Coordinator position. This is a full-time position with no benefits or salary. No previous coaching experience required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Azz kissing & driver's license required. Duties will include coordination of all phases of the defense, coaching a defensive position group, being responsible for a recruiting area, game day management and being a designated driver for the Head Coach. Interested applicants can DM Terry on Tic Tok.
Just remember these requirements are more than we asked for in the last few years. Previously we just asked for a empty husk has-been.

You’re such a juvenile! This is a ridiculous waste of space. When are you going to hit the portal and head to FSU with your god, loser Gus?

there are fans that don’t want him. but seems like he has been good w Boise but they go slower on offense than UCF Frost 1.0

this won’t be a popular hire but he is used to coaching where the offensive staff goes fast 🤦🏽‍♂️

Seems very odd when these types of hires occur. I’d assume a better than average G5 coordinator would be a better option? I don’t get the recycling of poor performance.

I don't know much about him or whether he is a good hire or bad but here are some stats on Alex Grinch:
In his first season at USC in 2022, the Trojans led the nation in turnover margin (1.57). The Trojans as they ranked No. 3 in the nation with 19 passes intercepted by 11 different players. USC ranked No. 5 in the nation in turnovers gained with 29. USC played in the Cotton Bowl to conclude the 2022 season.

Grinch, spent the previous 3 seasons (2019-21) at Oklahoma as the defensive coordinator and safeties coach. The Sooners ranked 24th nationally in rushing defense in 2021 (123.8) and advanced to the Alamo Bowl. In 2020 while winning the Big 12 title and playing in the Cotton Bowl, OU was third nationally in interceptions (16), fourth in opponent third-down conversion percentage (27.9), seventh in sacks (3.4) and ninth in both pass efficiency defense (112.9) and rushing defense (105.1) while allowing just 21.7 points per game. Oklahoma was 17th in the nation in opponent third-down conversion percentage (32.2) in 2019 when he was a Broyles Award semifinalist and OU won the Big 12 crown and played in a College Football Playoff semifinal in the Peach Bowl.

Grinch spent 2018 as Ohio State's co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach as the Buckeyes won the Big Ten and Rose Bowl.

He was Washington State's defensive coordinator and secondary coach for 3 seasons (2015-17). The 2017 Cougars were 16th nationally in total defense (323.3) and ninth in both passing defense (170.9) and turnovers gained (28) as he was a Broyles Award semifinalist. WSU played in the 2015 Sun Bowl and 2016 and 2017 Holiday Bowls.

Grinch was the safeties coach at Missouri for 3 seasons (2012-14). The Tigers captured the SEC East Division titles in 2013 and 2014 and won the Cotton Bowl in 2013 and Citrus Bowl in 2014.

I mean, there must be something good about him if he was DC or Co-DC at Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC and Wisconsin? He's had no problem getting hired at one big-name program after another. Is it possible the results at Oklahoma and USC were more on Lincoln Riley than him?

I think at Oklahoma he gave up a lot of points but they were winning. At SC it was pretty bad

Great hire IMO.....you don't get a sniff at a Broyles award unless you are well thought of....much less twice.

I think he will add some great transfers on defense.

Wisconsin Head Coach Luke Fickell had this to say about Grinch, "I want guys that have had a lot of tough situations. Define what you want to say as failing, I don't know, you weren't as good as you want to be as a player in my mind, but it doesn't matter if you were released or whatever. Guys that have gone through that and can humble themselves and recognize that, I think they're a hell of a lot better in the long run. . . . ."We had some mutual connections and knew that our ideas and things we do align in a lot of different ways. Once I got to know him and met him a little bit, to just see and feel the humility he had and all the things he went through, never complained, never made an excuse, never pointed a finger. He's a very smart football coach that's a hell of a lot better now than he was then because of those experiences"

Sounds like another we better score 30+ and get timely turnovers in the close games to win season on the horizon.
