I should have said perceived racist comments. When Rush said what he said, Swami and Jackson just kind of disagreed with him and that was it. The latter two faux raged because espn and everyone else told them to. Then it was full-on.
In all honesty, Rush should have never been on ESPN. Rush is too polarizing for the audience. ESPN should have realized that before putting him on.
E.g., Jackson -- who had been with ESPN since the mid '80s (and that counts for something) -- was intentionally patronizing Rush at times, with statements like, "I know you're a smart guy." He made that smart-@$$ comment many times before that incident.
Rush was a stupid move. I know they were trying to reach a demographic, but Rush was the wrong guy. He alienated too many other demographics.
In the same regard, players who want to represent a team, but want to display an individual protest, should realize they are too polarizing for the event. That's why I said players should just stay in the locker room.
It's why I also think Coaches like Tomlin are making the right call. E.g., a white person who wants to stand for the National Anthem shouldn't have to explain herself/himself.
Tomlin's comments on why the team didn't come out for the National Anthem were actually quite refreshing, because they weren't anti-Conservative, quite the opposite.
