ESPN Apologizes for Jemele Hill, Clay Travis Responds

Actually his comments were aimed at the press. Saying the didn't cover him like they would a white QB. He said the press basically was grading McNabb on a curve because he was black, rather than just looking at his play. He did say he thought McNabb was over rated.

I should have said perceived racist comments. When Rush said what he said, Swami and Jackson just kind of disagreed with him and that was it. The latter two faux raged because espn and everyone else told them to. Then it was full-on.

Travis makes a good point about Curt Schilling, dude was fired for stating his opinion on the NC Bathroom Law. Just because they come from different sides of the aisle, the rule of not allowing non-sports related commentary has to hold.

Speaking of which, does Schilling now have a case of discrimination based on political views? His termination was based on non-sports related commentary which has now proven to be false in other circumstances. Maybe there's more to the story on Schilling but it could get bad for ESPN.

And then there's this: the judge was American of Mexican decent.

Read up and come back.
I understand the situation. I was calling out your depiction of it. You overgeneralize and remove the important context and it should become an entirely different discussion. But it doesn't because people are too busy being offended to actually consider a discussion on its merits.

What are the merits of that comment which many republicans labeled as racists?

CNN making more fake news...

"As the brouhaha grew, my phone buzzed with many calls and messages. Among them was this call from a CNN producer, asking me if I’d come back on Monday to discuss the story."

"After I tweeted out CNN had invited me back on for another segment on another day, CNN rapidly shot down my Tweet and countless media organizations ran that CNN denial without asking me what evidence I had for that offer. Oh, not much, JUST AN ACTUAL VOICEMAIL as you see above.

Later on Friday night a CNN producer emailed and texted me to cancel that Monday interview. Which I also Tweeted out

Clip got a lot of views, of course they invited him back. Probably planned to have him on with a feminist to try and tear him apart for the "Boobs" comment.

Nazis: "some very fine people"
Black guy protesting social injustice: "son of a bitch"

Jemele Hill is 100% correct.

Huh, in another thread I you were talking about how one person doesn't represent everyone. Funny how that changes for you.

We're only talking about one person, genius. We're talking about our moron President with severe racist tendencies, whom you voted for and continue to support because you are dumb trailer trash.

The Anti Americans are finally seizing their moment. Communists and athletes side by side. What a pathetic time for this country.

The people at the bottom are "Anti-Americans and Communists"... LOL.

I think I know who is on the wrong side of "pathetic."

Are you now attempting to like something he once said? Because 99% of the time you endlessly whine and complain about anything he's ever tweeted.

Mainly just pointing out hypocrisy.

Also this board would not shut up about freedom of speech after Charlottesville, now someone kneeling is literally a communist. Just more hypocritical posts. Can you defend that without resorting to name calling?

These guys today aren't communists (that I know of); just the idiot who started all of this that wears shirts glorifying communist dictators.

yet, it is still irrelevant to... well... everything.

Well yeah, still haven't heard a good excuse as to how a group of literally nazis who killed someone are "nice people" and someone who took a knee is a "son of a bitch".

But I didn't really expect to hear a good reason, because there isn't one.

First off, he did call those people out. Then said something stupid the next day. And he didn't use the term "nice people".

Second, one asshole killed someone after getting into a confrontation. It's murder and he should fry for it but I've yet to see anything proving there was a "group plot" to have him run people over ahead of time . Can you link me to one if this exists? Seems to me it was a shithead who was having his car beat and went nuts.

Lastly, none of this changes the fact that many people do find these players to be sons of bitches. Free speech amirite?

You are correct, he didn't call them "nice people" he called them "very nice people". Good catch.

To be sure, he said there were fine people on both sides. Which included the Antifa-fueled counter-protest. He's not a politician. I'm guessing that was his attempt to quiet the situation; by ignorantly blowing smoke up both sides' asses. He shouldn't have said it. Unfortunately there are not enough intellectually honest people out there on either side to have an actual productive conversation.

We get what we deserve in this society. Focus group tested, legally approved rulers who lie to us constantly and manipulate the system for their own benefit. It really is quite sad.

Wouldn't having a Jewish daughter disqualify him from being a white supremacist? Thanks to his small hands, he is not a schlong supremacist either.

When you pick and choose when to be outraged, you're part of the problem. Is Trump wrong for how he handled Charlottesville and the kneeling NFL players? Yes. Is ESPN wrong for firing Schiling over his NC bathroom comments but not firing Hill over her Trump comments? Yes. Consistency is important and there's criticism to be had across the board. When you defend one and castigate the other, you're hypocritical as well.

For the NFL players, I don't have a problem with them kneeling. It's their right to do so and the owners have a decision on whether to fire them over it. Personally, I think kneeling is giving the cause the spotlight but not actually changing anything. I'd like to see the players take another step and perhaps pool money together to enact change in their communities.

i wont be watching espn for anything but live sports and even then, i will be selective. after this weekend, i wont be watching nfl football either. it will be nice to get back a good chunk of time on the weekend.

In all honesty, Rush should have never been on ESPN. Rush is too polarizing for the audience. ESPN should have realized that before putting him on.

E.g., Jackson -- who had been with ESPN since the mid '80s (and that counts for something) -- was intentionally patronizing Rush at times, with statements like, "I know you're a smart guy." He made that smart-@$$ comment many times before that incident.

Rush was a stupid move. I know they were trying to reach a demographic, but Rush was the wrong guy. He alienated too many other demographics.

In the same regard, players who want to represent a team, but want to display an individual protest, should realize they are too polarizing for the event. That's why I said players should just stay in the locker room.

It's why I also think Coaches like Tomlin are making the right call. E.g., a white person who wants to stand for the National Anthem shouldn't have to explain herself/himself.

Tomlin's comments on why the team didn't come out for the National Anthem were actually quite refreshing, because they weren't anti-Conservative, quite the opposite.

Great to see Been Roethlisberger today APOLOGIZE for not coming out for the anthem yesterday. Bravo Ben!

if these people dont respect our country, why are they still here? surely they could find a new country that theyd be happy to stand for the flag. jags and ravens should just stay in england.
They do respect the country, but don't feel the country respects them, starting with the POTUS.

They do respect the country, but don't feel the country respects them, starting with the POTUS.

If any of these guys were whining about not being respected prior to yesterday, it was either in their heads, or due to the fact that they beat their wives/women and are generally horrible people.

Please send me the tiniest violin to string for the plight of the modern day professional athlete.

NFL ratings have been falling for the past couple of years. This weeks games were actually up from last weeks.
Ratings for the game were down 9 percent versus last week (Packers-Falcons) and 11 percent versus last year's Week 3 game.

it is also true that nfl overall are down. article stated the 2016 year was down 8% overall compared to 2015.

Saw Ray Lewis kneeling on the Ravens sideline.

Guy can murder someone and continue his career in the NFL. Super offended when the President insists that players stand for the anthem

Unlike you, they're able to think beyond themselves.
