Get Grandpa Boom and Doom away from my university. He’s turned this program into a joke.

Isaiah Nixon is the one I thought should have left the program in the spring. However, he reshaped his body and surpassed Kaven Call, who I thought had a chance to be a solid reserve at that time.

I am not surprised often, but Nixon really impressed me with his physical growth and development. If he continues his upward track, he will be a multi-year starter, beginning next season.

I did not think he would ever play a significant snap for UCF. Kudos to him and "Grandpa Boom" for seeing the upside potential.

I am "gloating" that Malzahn actually wants to coach at UCF. Everybody else doesn't GAS about UCF.

Y'all are getting the cart wwwwwaaaayyy ahead of the horse. I mean I could understand these discussions if UCF was winless.

UCF hasn't fired a head coach in over 20 years.

Gus isn’t doing us any favors coaching at UCF. He knows this is a good situation with financial and facilities support, a P4 label, a conference anyone can win, and arguably surrounded by the best football players in America…all within a short drive to recruit.

If he leaves, very good coaches will be lining up and drooling over the UCF job.

I brought this up weeks ago, after the UF game in the beginning of October.

But I still don’t understand why “the stretch” option is not mentioned more? All our fans ever talk about is how UCF can’t afford Grandpa’s buyout, but it’s always in the context of paying him the lump sum right now. Who says we can’t pay what we can afford now, and stretch the majority of the money owed to him out over many years in the future?

As much as I hate Boom and Doom, and attribute his failures to ruining my school’s brand, national interest, success, legacy, etc. - I still realize that he’s no dummy. No one would walk away with money still on the table. He’s a family man, he’s a provider. That’s money owed to him that he can leave to his children and grandchildren. Can’t blame him there…

This is where Terry has to dig in and have the difficult conversations with Boomer. And at the end of the day, I guess that’s where this discussion becomes much more complicated and frustrating. The AD put us all in this position, the AD is not going to push Gus away and negotiate a buyout/stretch, and I don’t think we want this AD bringing in a new coach either.

This bottom out is going to really suck.

Malzahn and Mohajir agreed on a contract extension last year when there was nothing to warrant it, even if it was decided before the 2023 season. From Mohajir's perspective, if he fires Malzahn now he openly admits that the extension was a terrible decision and cost the program millions.

Both Mohajir and Malzahn look bad, so now they can conspire together to save themselves while earning millions by pointing fingers at everyone else. Coordinators, NIL collective, ect with the hopes they some how start winning again.

It's supposed to be like the US Constitution ... you don't have Amendments on-a-whim, and you force people to really consider 'the cost' before doing it. That's why they exist.

Like it or not, fair or not, it's designed to keep ADs from the pressures of the rabid fanbase who cannot fathom 1 loss, which clearly applied here against Colorado. We wait for more losses in the season now, of which ... is now more relevant.

Of course, it also gives coaches 2-3 seasons at times. But that's also by design, like it or not, fair or not. It's that simple.
