I actually think the bigger advantage was the home games in the first round. I think the first 2 rounds should be on campus. It would make seeding still important, which keeps interest on the regular season and championship games. If you keep it the way it is now, what's to keep a team from tanking a championship game if they feel the better match up would be a lower seed? If your 2 round game is now all of a sudden an away game with a hostile crowd.
Homefield in NFL works because there is a defined criteria for obtaining it. I like the idea of all CFP games being neutral site similar to NCAA basketball tournament. As long as you have a committee deciding who gets the homefield they are going to stack the deck for Big 10 and SEC.
Yeah they need all games off campus. I don’t care if Georgia plays in Atlanta or Texas in Dallas, just not on their campuses. That’s not even close to fair.
CFP isn't quite the spectacle that the Superbowl is, but when Jax hosted they had to bring in cruise ships to have enough hotel rooms for visitors. Couple years ago the city even said they didn't plan to host again anytime soon. Its a big city with a small town mindset, but maybe new admin and stadium changes things.
The city has grown even more since 2005 though. Lots of hotels have been built in 20 years. The new stadium changes everything. I could see the Gator being one of the bowls that become a CFP game when they extend it to 16 because it's one of the prestigious ones.
agree. The home games are a huge advantage (disadvantage for the away team obviously). I personally think it should be a neutral site because the 12 team playoff is a "ranking" from a committee. So, a "ranking" by a committee just gave a team a disadvantage. Take the ranking a bit more "out of the equation" by playing at a neutral site.
Miami and Tampa are much better for hosting big events. Orlando would be too if there was a NFL quality stadium.
Well there's not. So Orlando won't be hosting any CFP games in the foreseeable future. Jacksonville has to be a top candidate now.
No. And then every single one of those home teams won the next game. Maybe was luck if draw. Not sure.

And Goodell has an unofficial rule about rewarding new stadiums w a Super Bowl so maybe it gets another one despite the issues they had last time.
The new stadium will change EVERYTHING for Jacksonville. As will the 4 Seasons and every new addition in the shipyard area that Khan is transforming. Everything is about to change for Jacksonville with one of the most advanced stadiums in the world.
Nashville is also building a new stadium, and is probably much more suited for these types of events than Jacksonville. I would think with Florida already having Miami and Tampa, that Nashville would be more likely, or at least more frequent than Jacksonville.
Jacksonville has a historic, prestigious bowl that would be one of the ones to get elevated to a CFP game. Nashville does not. Ray Jay is not hosting any CFP games. The best stadium in Florida will be in Jacksonville. That leaves Jacksonville and Miami as your Florida options. Gator Bowl and Orange Bowl.
