C'mon. Saying "could easily have been a sweep" when the series is 2-2 is absurd. It's the playoffs- shit happens and it's a grind.
It's not absurd at all. Again, advanced stats back up that Florida has controlled play basically all series. Plus it's pretty obvious watching who is controlling and dominating chances and who is chasing. But yes, it's the "shit happens" that has it as a 2-2 series.
The Panthers are a better team than the Lightning this season but Playoff experience matters. The Lightning had several similar games last year during the Playoffs where they looked like crap for 2.5 periods yet still won the game
Yeah if only the Panthers had a leader on their team with 200 playoff points or (also) a goalie who has reached the Finals. And to be clear...most of the lead-to-goal mistakes by the Panthers have been made by guys like Brian Campbell, a Stanley Cup winner. The guys 'without experience' like Ekblad and Barkov and Bjugstad have been unbelievably good this series.
keep in mind the islanders are really young too.
Right. because playoff hockey is weird. All i am disputing is the notion that the "panthers havent looked good this series" just because it's tied 2-2.
Every team is going to have crap games given how long the Playoffs are. That's why goaltending typically makes or breaks things. And Bishop is a monster.
Don't forget that Bishop was hurt for half of the Playoffs last year which is why Vasy had to play so many games. Even the games Bish played, he was battling the injury.
It's true the Panthers have dominated but we are still here tied. Hopefully Jagr can break his playoff scoring drought tonight and the Panthers win. Judging by stubhub and ticketmaster, the place will be packed tonight and should be rocking. I'll be there.
Well we are pretty much done. Blown out at home to go down 3-1. The last two years when we were down 3-1 I still thought we had a chance but the Rangers are not the better team in this series. Holding out hope but don't see it happening this time around.
I went I a sports bar in the city last night wearing my Hedman jersey and I have never see or heard Ranger fans so quiet. It was f'ing fantastic.
Panthers just got hosed. Obvious tripping in front of an open net and not called, Islanders score 50 seconds later to tie the game. This is what scares me about playing a New York team, you will never get the calls.
Panthers did it to themselves. So many opportunities and they just couldnt pull it off. It seemed like the Islanders were in control for most of the game. Panthers couldnt complete a pass to save themselves. None of their big players stepped up.
Sucks, I was really hoping for a Panthers v Bolts series.

Not me. Despite the series, the Panthers were still the stronger and better team over the long run, with better goaltending.
Plus the Lightning now get home ice due to having the better record.

The Lightning were completely dominating the game up until Condra got knocked out. The game changed instantly. Bishop proceeded to let in the softest goal yet and it was all downhill from there.
Their defense finally was exposed this game on Goals 2 and 3. They left guys wide open and alone within 5 feet of the net and it killed them both times. They only got away with it vs Detroit because Bishop pulled miracles and stopped all of them.
If they don't get their shit together on defense they'll be going home this series.

The Lightning played horribly, no doubt but the same official that the Lightning have been complaining about for nearly a decade, the same official that was on for the Detroit 2-0 win was again there last night. If you listen to the radio broadcast you would hear that this guy simply won't call a Lightning game even, so much so the organization has taken notice with the NHL. It was a horribly called game, I was watching g it at a bar in Chicago last night and the crowd was commenting on the lack of calls against the brooklynders.
Maybe, but the refs didn't cause Bish to miss an EASY save or leave their forwards open within 5 feet of the goal for easy goals.
3 of their goals were due to Tampa shitting the bed on defense and failing to hold their positions. The refs had nothing to do with that.
No argument there, bishop was horrible but there were six or seven none calls on the brooklynders that could have changed the game.
Bishop is either one of the best goalies in the league or a complete bust. Teams can get in his head and last night was one of those games. Lets just hope he gets it together for the next one, or it will be a quick series.
To be fair, he really only had 1 bad goal which was the first. He was completely helpless on Goals 2 and 3, given they were point blank in front of the net without a defender nearby.
The wide open Goal 3 with 3 seconds left was a back breaker.
