Whether Nike turns out to have made a good or a bad decision remains to be seen. But you can bet that it was based on serious market research. Nike didn't get to be Nike by making poor marketing decisions.

I smile when I hear the Blowhards say they won't buy Nike sneakers again (because the vast majority of them never wore them in the first place.)

The notion that viewership has dropped due to the anthem controversy is ridiculous. The NFL ratings, while down from their record highs, still dominate every other sport by comparison.

It's so ridiculous that the NFL is trying urgently to get these kneelers and anti-Americans off their cameras and amending the rules to require standing. Yea- sounds like a big nothingburger to the NFL!

Hilarious that you don't know the difference between a comparative base and growth or decline trends. Apple has the highest market cap in the world but if they announced tomorrow that phone sales were down 15%, there would be an utter panic and their share price would plummet. The NFL starting from a basis of high ratings doesn't negate the fact that their trends are down. These networks are not shelling out huge sums of money so they can capture 35% less audience in 10 years than they signed up for originally.

2017 saw another 10% decline in ratings but I'm sure that's just because everyone found better things to do on Sunday and nothing to do with these Colin K disciples*

im not a big fan of their shoes, just a personal thing. dont like most of their designs for tshirts, another personal thing. only thing i would like are some of their ucf polos but its the $80 price that keeps me away. however, after this ad campaign, even if i did want to get one of those polos now, i wont. not like they are really losing me as customer.

i dont really follow the stock market, how is it looking today?

Red hats think they are more important than they are.

1. Just 40% of Nikes sales are even in North America

2. Redhats are sketchers or new balance wearing old pieces of shit. I guess their high ankle white sock market might get hit.

3. Most of America doesn't care about this.

4. The part of America that does care will still buy the best shoes for the sport they are participating in if it's sports related.

All of that combined and this will have no meaningful impact on Nike stock. If it does take a major dive I'll be buying a shit ton for an easy gain.

You're unsuccessful and shop at Payless. You should really rethink #2. Maybe you're not old but just a "piece of shit" then.

Really? Then the NFL sure has a funny way of showing its disdain for Nike's decision. A spokeswoman for the NFL said yesterday:

"The National Football League believes in dialogue, understanding, and unity. We embrace the role and responsibility of everyone involved with this game to promote meaningful, positive change in our communities. The social justice issues that Colin and other professional athletes have raised deserve our attention and action."

Jesus Christ you are dense. What I just said has nothing to do with Nike specifically. And their statement is extremely tepid at best, not exactly a rousing applause.

the company’s freedom to do so “is what this country is all about.”

Wow a sudden change of message from the president.

“I think it’s a terrible message. Nike is a tenant of mine. They pay a lot of rent.”

Is this where liberals pretend THEY are charity minded people?

[roll]

I'm not going to pretend like I give tons of money to charity. I don't have the means to, tbh.

However, I sure as hell don't throw away my clothes. They go to Goodwill when I'm done with them.

Good for you. So do I. Pretty much everything we have that isn't done for goes to the Goodwill drop box at our neighborhood church.

Memes like what you posted are just dumb though. The people ragging on "righties" tossing their Nikes are probably the same liberals who contributed $400,000 to Peter Strzrok's "defense fund" despite not needing a cent and already being wealthy. Surely that money could have gone to a vet!

Count the Nikes.

This. Nike basically gave an FU:victory: to the over 50 demographic. They don't really buy Nikes and when they do they're the $25 Payless yard cutter shoes. Nike would rather sell the $200 shoes, so I think that they are happy to cut the old folks loose. Nike did the same thing with Michael Jordan in the late 80's in trying to embrace the youth while cutting off the Prefontaine crowd. It's a little sad because I grew up in the Michael Jordan era and Nike's were a symbol of cool, now I'm just an old fart that they want to cut loose. :weary:

People over 50 don't buy shoes? Bags? Equipment? Cleats? Bats? Balls?

Wow- you'll have to let the millions of parents 50 and older with kids to buy for! They'll be thrilled that they're off the hook!

Relying on 20'something's with limited disposable income - bravo!

Why haven't you been treating your family to the best options?
Simple, my son can buy what he wants, I do like the Nike Vapormax for running but Brooks, Saucony and Hoka make better shoes for running. My wife likes Nike tennis gear but everyone makes that.

Democrats complaining about conservatives "boycotting" a company over political differences is freaking hysterical.

Democrats wrote the book on boycotting companies that do things against their political will.

Hypocrisy at it's best.

You guys can all suck it. If I see a UCF Nike shirt I like, I'm buying it. Just as I will continue to buy delicious spicy chicken sandwiches from Chik Fil A.

Maybe Nike can release a new edition of this shirt that Colin K so proudly wore while in Miami. They can depict Castro sending his political opponents to death and starving women and children with a "Just Do It" slogan below one of his firing squads executing capitalist land owners.

Not like the 20 somethings do. When was the last time you spent $200 on shoes? I shop at the outlets and $60 is about my max. As for the kids, they'll pressure their parents. The parents can try forcing them Reeboks but you know how that is going to go.

I would bet almost anything that a parent in the 40-50 year old range is shelling out way, way more money annually on sports gear and shoes for themselves and their kids than a 20-something year old.

Associating with people who murder political opponents bothers you all the sudden. Lol.

And it doesn't bother you at all. [roll]

Makes sense, given your party is rapidly lining up behind socialists that view Castro and Che as heroes.

Oh nevermind you've been pretty consistent shitting on dictators who murder political opponents.

That was before there was a deranged lunatic nominated for President who just happens to have people around him who have all worked for, or made money with, Putin allies and associates. Trump's campaign manager used to work for the asshole ex-President of Ukraine who massacred his own people in 2014 before fleeing to Moscow.

Russia is shooting down commercial airliners and people like Boston are whining that we're being meanies vs. poor lil Russia.

But are they shelling out money on Nike's? Nike sees the younger demo as more profitable and their future revenue.

My son is too young but my neighbors have 3 kids and their garage is stacked with Nike stuff (and Adidas). Every day the younger kid leaves for baseball with his $80 Nike bag and $50 Nike cleats. All of this was purchased by their parents who are......in their 50's.

It's almost indisputable that parents in the 40's and 50's have more disposable income than a single 20 something. It's also pretty much accepted that buying preferences (and political views) alter drastically when someone goes from being a 20 year old to an adult with a job, house, and a family.

The young get old. The old stop knowing what cool is. The young always do. Nike stays cool.

There's nothing cooler that a whiny lousy QB who is still being paid to do nothing, bitching about not being given a job because he acted like a moron previously.

In a way I guess that would appeal to millennials. Paid to do nothing. It's very Bernie Bro in a lot of ways. SJW faux activism FTW.

There is already a blueprint for this in Muhammed Ali. The 40+ yo in 1968 hated Ali but you probably have a favorable opinion of him.

Uhhhh dude. Muhammed Ali? Are you comparing him to Kaep? Really?

Ali retained a reputation because he actually won. He was a dominant boxer and that overcame many of his controversies. People love winners.

Kaep is a bad QB who was cut for being a bad QB. He sucks. That's why this Nike thing is so stupid because they're hitching their wagon to a loser.
