What does that mean “it’s July”. If we are going to take the next step we need to recruit well all year round. Look at the top programs and where their 2020 class is right now.
It means
a) no commit has even stepped on a field for a senior season
b) ratings will change
c) kids will decommit (usf’s prized “4 star”)
d) others will commit
e) kids will be processed
f) transfers aren’t factored in
g) silent commits (like 2 of UCFs top recruits last year in Gabriel and Morris-Brash) aren’t factored in until the last day
h) rankings are inherently flawed anyway. Recruits outside of 5 star and top 4 star are rated based on offers and going to a big named school. Which is why there isn’t much fluctuation year to year for teams in the rankings.
i) the recruiting agencies ranked a fake player as a high 3 star.
j) given everything else, UCF has ranked 1st or 2nd among G5 schools in average recruit ranking each of the past 6 years. 2 classes from 3 different coaches. Not any change.
k) Heupel said he doesn’t rely on recruiting site star rankings. Which is why kids have been offered and committed who have been to camps and have no ranking (until they magically become a 3 star after committing)
l) even if kids sign in a good class there is no guarantee they enroll (see 9 players at UF this year)
m) UCFs top classes historically have featured big name commits that did next to nothing (Cordarrian Richardson comes to mind)
n) UCF has won 20 consecutive games against G5 teams. I think their system is working fine.
