Recruiting Update Thread

Let’s see if we can have a fun discussion about 2025 WR recruiting in the State of Florida? This year the state is absolutely loaded with WR talent. That being said Jamie Ffrench is the alpha of the 2025 Florida WR class.

My top six ranked (they are all elite but Ffrench just different).

Jamie Ffrench
.
.
.
.
.
2. Dallas Wilson
3. Cortez Mills
4. Vernell Brown
5. Winston Watkins
6. Jayvan Boggs

Unfortunately, OSU is in a really good spot to land Jamie Ffrench and Vernell Brown. Dallas Wilson will flip from Oregon…to who is the question?

Miami has a good a chance as anyone (not named OSU) to land Ffrench and Brown. Brown will be at Miami again this weekend.

Cortez Mills is a huge priority for Miami and has been on campus watching practice twice in the last week. Of my top six, Mills is the best at creating separation.

UCF is very close (location) to Brown and Boggs. UCF doesn’t have any WRs that (stand out at the moment)…guys who you could pencil in to start in 2025. Obviously, that can change during the season…someone can emerge.

UCF pros:

1. location close to talented 2025 WRs.
2. Can “sell” guys on early playing time.
3. UCF can sell to recruits (if he works out) being able to get KJ Jefferson. KJ won’t be here next year but UCF can always say that they’ll bring a good transfer QB for 2025.

UCf cons:

1. Tim Harris is a good coach but he never played the position and he has never coached WRs at any level (as a WR coach).

2. What QB will be throwing to WRs in 2025?

Comments? Any of you have any good insight into Florida 2025 WR recruiting?

New commit.

He has an impressive offer list, Auburn and Tennessee most recently.

Any new news about recruiting or about any others we may be losing to the transfer portal?

Gus is being very selective and keeping things quiet about portal transfers.

Here are the guys I know for a fact UCF has contacted.

And a potential second team scout team safety

Whenever we've done the best besides having a decent QB we've had an excellent WR group and excellent defensive back group. Glad to see we are going after more talent in these 2 areas to get excellence in both groups.

I can all but GUARANTEE this kid will sign with UCF. If there is one thing Herb Hand was put on this Earth to do, it is to steal another coach's offensive linemen.

UCF doesn't even need the kid. UCF has three centers, including a fifth-year rental, a redshirt junior, and a true freshman early enrollee.

Go ahead and put in a Crystal Ball for the UCF Portal Thief.

I wouldn’t say we don’t need him. You always need lineman depth. A couple of those centers can play guard as well, which would help with depth in the interior.

I think we are saying the same thing.

UCF is prepared to open the Big 12 season with its roster 'as is' at center, but will need help at guard and/or tackle before the fall.

Problem is there are no guards and tackles in the portal capable of starting at UCF. (Even though, I think Derrick Graham can.) So over signing centers is the solution.

Whoa…this one is huge. Maybe can help get his brother too. DB group building some crazy depth. I’d assume some attrition coming at that position in the near future.

is it though? i'm sure USC fans thought it was huge when they got an Alabama DB. really hard to have high expectations for someone with 3 years eligibility remaining and we're his 3rd school. we've been there (guys like demarkus bowen, etc) done that.

Point taken. UCF put a lot of time and effort into luring one-time transfer Goldie Lawrence to Orlando and that was a disaster as well. Bowen and Lawrence were offensive players.

Fegans is a defensive guy. It is harder to screw those guys up. Fegans will perform better at safety than Xavier Williams, so it is an roster upgrade regardless.

If UCF puts him at corner, Fegans (6-0, 187) will be one of the three largest scholarship corners on the team with Brandon Adams (6-3. 190) and Chasen Johnson (6-1, 180). That's good company.

At least a glimmer of hope exists that he plays.

Cannot say that about every scholarship recipient.
