And then went back 2 minutes later because we forgot our purse?

Just can't seem to learn.

It's like watching Vietnam 1972-1975 all over again. We're aiming for peace positioning at the negotiation table when it's all for show on their side. They have no intention of abiding by anything when they can just take what they want after we pull out.

so Crazy you agree with leaving but are against occasional drive by air strikes to protect Kabul? there is no correct answer, people like Max Boot want us to stay there another 20 years

I think doing anything there is a trap, so just walk away. Relocate those who were active allies of ours if they want, and call it a day.

There’s a reason why the Al Qaeda and Taliban training videos we saw before 9/11 showed Bill Clinton’s face at their ranges. Because random fire missions with no human element on our side only lends fuel to the warlords that incite sentiment against the Great Satan. It’s literally the worst possible thing that we could do.

We have been most effective in improving this world when we have maintained a solid deterrent and infected them with our culture.

Imagine thinking the taliban cares what their role is in the international community. They want their state and tribalism, its been obvious since the first attempt to change that country.

That's what I said all along when Trump was going to do it, but the general consensus at the time here was that we'd been there too long and needed to get the hell out of Dodge. Now Biden is following suit. Okie dokie.

But do we really need to feature non-stop news stories about the Taliban's advances and the impact Taliban rule is having on the women and children in the country? Duh. What did everybody expect?

Did anybody think there wasn't going to be any consequences?

Sensationalism at its best. Of course we shouldn't keep the embassy in Afghanistan staffed and open. Those people will just be killed.

They have been killing each other for centuries, about time we let them go back to the usual programming. If their army didn't grow a backbone in 20 years, it wasn't going to happen

The men there will be happy, they can get the girls back out of school and back under the shoe of their man.

That’s absolutely right. None of this US-backed feminist BS for the Taliban. Their motto is barefoot and pregnant, baby!

This is also the reason why we’ll be bombarded by the stomach-churning sights of Taliban atrocities each night on our nightly news for the foreseeable future.

Republicans attacking Biden for our withdrawal from Afghanistan??!? WTF?

Apparently I dreamt that they were all gung-ho about leaving when Trump was so hellbent on getting out ASAP.

similar to Syria which was in the news everyday then we never hear about it anymore

Emptying the prisons now.

4 days ago, they said the Taliban might be able to take over the country in 90 days. Now, they are saying 72 hours.

As soon as they read Ibram X. Kendis book, they'll probably be a formidable fighting force.

This really is like Saigon. It's amazing to watch it unfold in real time.

Remember when certain members of this board lost their shit when Trump removed US forces from Syria in 2019 and claimed we were betraying our allies and no one would ever trust us to stand behind people we fought with ever again?

Hmmm. Wonder what those same folks are saying about this.

I hope the footage of what happens goes on the air 24/7 so people will see what a waste of time and money it is to interfere in other countries affairs.

a lot of Syria critique was bc the Kurds & being a geopolitical win for Russia w territory . Afghanistan has drained money + resources and kicked both Soviet/Russian and American asses over three decades.

Taliban would always wait it out

Well, now they're gonna have to play nice with the Chinese, because I don't think they give 2 sheets about killing anybody that stands in their way to get that connection built. The soviets ran out of money, we didn't have the will, but the Chinese have both.

He's not to blame for this, but Biden going on vacation on Friday may be the legacy of his presidency now. This thing has escalated so quickly its almost unbelievable. Kabul is totally surrounded.

That this was the inevitable conclusion of our “its past time to get the hell out of Dodge” policy.
