Russian invasion into Ukraine is imminent

Happy to pay more for gas to thwart Russia? How about more for food, when it is available? It seems Russia is one of our major suppliers of fertilizer. Or was before we shut off trade. Now a food supply that was already stressed from the lockdowns and COVID troubles is going to take a major hit from lack of fertilization. Oh, and to make matters worse, the production of fertilizer takes a significant amount of energy and where has the cost of that gone recently?

We were pretty lucky and bought 2022 inputs back in October. Locked in at 1080 an acre, which is ridiculously high but the advisers were telling us that there will be shortages. Sure as heck, now input costs would be almost 1300 per acre and no guarantee for delivery at all. I can tell you this for sure: there will be a lot of farmers that don't make it though the next 2 years.

The gov't won't let farming disappear... What they 'will' do is let some existing farmers perish making room for "equitable" replacements, which will likely require perpetual gov't supplementation... End game, sh!t will cost more for folks not on SNAP, and will be Putin's fault.

Just checked and hail insurance loss benefit is just over 1900/ acre this year. That is ridiculously high. They are basically expecting 9 dollar corn and 21 dollar soybeans. Clearly they are expecting shortages.

OK, this one is almost over the top. It's literally called the "Drama Theater".

Poor Vladdy! He had expected Zalenskyy to flee the country when the invasion began and for NATO and the US to twiddle their thumbs and look the other way like they did during the Crimea invasion. Instead President Biden rallied NATO's leaders into a strong, united front behind a Ukrainian leader on the front lines who has inspired his people, as well as the world watching it all.

With Zalenskyy's rousing speech to Congress followed by the President's committment to provide Ukraine with more military support, this has not been a good day for Putin and his war effort.

I just don't see how Vladdy survives this debacle. He's too proud to leave with his army's tail between its legs. Yet his army is not equipped to occupy Ukraine for the long haul. The longer this wears on, the worse things are going get for him. And even if he does eventually overwhelm Keiv and take down the Ukrainian government, it will only make Zalenskyy a worldwide martyr and intensify the world's anger towards the Russians. For all the talk of China being Russia's savior, the Chinese are smart enough to know that even though autocratic governments need to support one another, economically, they need the West a hell of a lot more than they need Russia.

The one thing that worries me the most about a murderous little dictator like Putin is that the experts who know him say he's actually more dangerous when he's in trouble. Putin believes that the way to mask weakness is with more aggression. Ugh! If that's the case, this doesn't bode well for where this whole thing is headed.

Maybe this is how he is rallying NATO to the cause.

Nothing he says is interesting. He can't complete a thought so how is it interesting? He is in fear of Putin so nothing is changing.
Well if it is early in the day he can read what he is supposed to. He is a great puppet for the swamp until he gets a little tired, then the dementia overides the drugs and sleep.

The west is weak. A China-Russian alliance would mow through all of Eurasia with relative ease. Who’s going to stop them? Certainly not the same generation that has been mobilized against the evils of western civilization for the last 2+ years.
Bump.

There’s a war going on and you imbeciles are going full BDS.

“But, but, let’s have a debate!!!!!”

This for crazy. The US is rushing billions of dollars of aid while we can't fix our issues here. Maybe because the Ukraine connection with Hunter and the Biden family?

We give aid to lots of countries, this has nothing to do with Hunter Biden, it has to do with a large army trying to take over a european country.

What does this even mean? Lots of people have interests in Ukraine. You honestly think Biden only cares about Ukraine because of his son?
Those people should also have their motivations questioned.

Good point. I mean, what other possible reason is there to provide aid to one of the largest countries in Europe who is currently being invaded by an authoritarian nuclear power.

Would you not question Trumps motivations on this issue if he were president right now? I sure as hell would.

Not many were a vice president getting shakedown money with his crack smoking and underage prostitute loving son. Remember the prosecutor he got fired? A lot of conflicts and do they have our best interests now? Fair question

So do you think we should just leave Ukraine on their own with no support what so ever and let Russia take it? Fair question.

I question lots of politicians motivations, including Trump. And I dont have an issue with you questioning Biden on anything, but it seems pretty far out there to think any of this has to do with Hunter Biden, especially considering he hasnt been on the board of Burisma for 3 years.

So same question, we should just tell Ukraine we are offering no support because of Hunter Biden?

No, and nobody is suggesting that.

SO I am reading that wrong? And this was his response to a segment from Jesse Waters and BingoBongo suggesting the same. So yes, some people are clearly suggesting that.

No idea about Jesse waters, but I didn't take knightimes comment that way.

I said it before and I'll say it again ...

From 2008-2014, the US' career politicians and lobbyists were screwing with democracy in Ukraine, including trumped up charges against a popular, west-oriented, leader who had her removed, and with the support of many of those US lobbyists supporting Moscow's interests at times. This included The Podesta group, but it was both parties.

I'm honestly so tired of people pinning this on Trump, and spending so much focus on Trump, when there was even a report -- heavily redacted -- with a lot of names in there! Why? Congress doesn't want Americans to know the full truth of all who were involved well before Trump was anywhere close to being a public official!

I want them all scrutinized, and the 'whitewash' of Hunter is one of the worst, coordinated, controlled, combination of not just censorship, but blacklisting, I've ever seen by Big Tech.

Everyone said it was the Republicans playing games. I don't care what anyone thinks, the Republicans weren't wrong about exactly what was going on! Most of the Republicans who were involved are now gone too ... and yes, they were as much as the left.

What does that have to do with Putin? And Republicans run up debt just as much as Democrats. Also, Putin's biggest asset is that he is an authoritarian and long as he keeps the oligarchs happy, doesnt have to answer to anyone in his country. His problem here, is that he is going to cost the oligarchs a lot of money for no real reason, and they arent going to stand by him forever.
I think he was saying voters like you. I can hardly disagree.

I mean, we have a 'Reagan Republican' here with a chap up his @$$ too. He's still voting for it. That's my problem.

We have to stop being partisan, and a lot of us want to see that happen. We want broad accountability. But we cannot have that with the current attitude of voters.

Has anybody asked what happens to CDOs with Russian investors not being able to make payments due to these sanctions? Do margin calls just get canceled or postponed?

For that matter, what happens to a guy like Trump who's deutschbank loans came from Russia. Surely they collateralized his debts, considering they are in the hundreds of millions. Do the secondary holders gain claim now since the primary is banned from international payments? Can a derivative investor foreclose on behalf of the primary due to non-payment?
